LukeAE71 Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Had a spin in the driver seat of this thing today, and for a late model econo-box it really gets up and goes. Pulls well in every gear. Would really like a spin in a Sportivo model if they go as hard as I've heard. I test drove a Sportivo years ago when they were brand new, like a wet fart at anything below 6 grand, and then ZING :) Useless for driving around town if you ask me, by the time you hit 6 grand in first you were almost doing 60 so never really able to use the power :P Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I test drove a Sportivo years ago when they were brand new, like a wet fart at anything below 6 grand, and then ZING :) Useless for driving around town if you ask me, by the time you hit 6 grand in first you were almost doing 60 so never really able to use the power :P 6,000+ = Hypospeed as Luc's mate calls it. Thats the point of it really, to be able to putter round town getting good fuel ecconomy. Then when you need the power, Drop it down a gear or 2 and your right in VVTi teritory, then a couple thousand revs later variable valve lift kicks in all the way to the 8,200rpm limiter. Quote
greenmac80 Posted December 20, 2009 Author Report Posted December 20, 2009 The 1zz-fe engine in mine is more torquey down low but doesn't have much up high. the 2zz-ge which is in the tivos has 40 more kw than and its more like 5000 the vvti kicks in you can really feel it and then you feel it again when the lift kicks in. so for 3200rpm your in powerband and once you change into second your straight back into power. i'm soo impressed with the way ours drives i'm gonna pay it off and get myself a tivo. greenmac80 Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 Soooo been ages but the rolla has come a fair way. long way to go still. Just before i pulled it off the road. Had spot repairs all done. Started stripping it down. then came fibreglass flairs. riveted and glued on. Body got cut back and rewelded. then moulded on for that smooth look. moulded them onto the bumpers as well to make it seem factory. basically moulded it all as one then cut my own bodyline. Quote

Taz_Rx Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 I had a set of the steelies on mine. Looked good but damn they were heavy! Which in turn made them hard to balance, I had it done twice and still had a horrible shake at 60 kmh and 120 kmh. The guys at the tyre place reckoned a couple of them were slightly buckled from factory! Suppose that's what you get for cheap chinese made non adr approved wheels. Hence I sold them. Quote
