seabiscuit Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 I am wondering would a fj20 motor fit into a ke70? N how difficult would it be? Pretty sure it would fit, being only a 4cyl. It has a an "advanced" difficulty rating to fit into a KE70.. :) Good luck - search around the net and you'll find your answers because either none or very few of us have experience of fitting an FJ20 into a KE70 or any Corolla. irokin Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 It has a an "advanced" difficulty rating to fit into a KE70.. :) Hey, now theres an idea! We should do a list of engines and fitting difficulty levels for Corollas. 5K, novice. 7K, easy. 4A, easy to moderate. etc etc etc. Quote

seabiscuit Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) Perhaps we should set the difficulty ratings as they are in games.. Novice, Private, Legendary, Heroic, Godlike, Suicidal just to name a few. Mick's FJ20 Rolla (on the homepage under top 5 nominee's for car of the year) is a KE30 which has a very similar engine layout to KE70. Edited December 8, 2009 by seabiscuit Quote
Jordanrolla Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 i recently looked at fj20det powrered gazelle on the weekend to see how it would fit my ke70. they are a chunky motor compared to most 2ltr 4cyl motors. I think the inlet manifold would have to be shortened, it was a front sump so that wouldnt be an issue and so other than that it would be a conversion just like any other one. Mounts, wiring, cooler + pipework, etc etc. I took the car for a drive it had a high flow turbo running 10psi microtech, intercooler and exhaust for mods and i found it rather slow for what it was. Personally id go for some sort of newer higher output motor. Quote

Jordanrolla Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 well lets see 800kg car and id like to know how much money was thrown into that motor? whats been done, what turbo, what boost etc etc. you could make an 18Rc do an 8 sec pass but at what cost. Id be looking at a 4g63 where you'd only be looking at spending half the $ to make it do what most other 2ltr 4cyl's can do to do a whatever time. ive also been researching a bit to find out a bit more about fj20's results in performance upgrades and history. I'm sure many people have their own view's and appinions but from what i could find was that they were a good motor for there time and that was a while ago, since then there have been some better options released.
