demuire Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 Hahahahahahahahaaaaa... sorry, I couldn't resist... Actually, one of my mates is a big fan of Commodores (VL's in particular), he continually pulls burnouts and skids in the city, and doesn't seem to see anything wrong with it. In fact, he gets kicks out of "scaring the pedestrians". Despite all my persuasions, he won't take his car to a sprint day or to a motorsport event, because he's afraid of damaging his car, or rolling it. Yet he has no problems doing 200km/h down the freeway or cutting off traffic or pulling skids in the CBD... I dunno, some people just think on a whole different level. Quote
Valandor Posted June 29, 2005 Author Report Posted June 29, 2005 up near the airport north of adelaide. if in doubt http://www.whereis.com.au it out he he Quote
Valandor Posted June 29, 2005 Author Report Posted June 29, 2005 "yeah well I'm invincible because i drive i commodore" i know a lot of people who are of this mentallity and yet something like this shows up and they are like "no it was the other guys." "but did you see the mass burnout i did.. sik m8" gits. from the RCK site... consideration to cruises stops include car parks with multiple exits to stop lock ins... sad when a club has to go to that length i was trying to keep the initial post not baggin anyone media or commodores. but demuire you opened the flood gates.. well i did Quote
demuire Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 Well, I don't think it's limited to Commodore drivers, there are heaps of other people who think like that. But I think it would be safe to say that it is more prevalent (spl?) among the "big cubes" people ie Falcodore drivers... Maybe because "big cubes" tend to = "big torque" which also tends to = to "easy to pull skids". Quote
demuire Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 I also seem to see a lot of this "yeah I pulled a big skid in the city, it was so cool" / "huh? why should my car get confisticated, I'm not a hoon" mentality among the d0rif70R people... Whom a lot of them seem to not see any problems with drifting through the CBD, or lowering their car ridiculously, or doing ultra dodgy mods, and are the first to whinge and complain when they get pulled over and defected or fined. This, of course is a MASSIVE generalisation, there are heaps of people in the drift scene who are responsible and sensible, it's the few idiots who put a big cloud over everyone else. Just the same way legetimite car clubs get a bad rep because of some idiots who decide that they can't behave responsibility. Skids are fun, handbrake turns are fun, driving sideways in general is fun. But time and place. Some deserted road out in some country town? Meh. In the middle of a busy city with pedestrians around? Not appropriate, I don't think. Quote
Valandor Posted June 29, 2005 Author Report Posted June 29, 2005 yeah well you always get fools and hoon in any group tho. even cops have a few of them that give the others a bad name. in my experience they have all been good Quote
Northen Rolla Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 Up here in Townsville i'm an active committee member of our club "Pulse Motorsports". At the end of the year we will have been running for 5 years, it has taken the last 4 years to earn respect from police (they generally leave us alone when they see the club stickers on the windscreens or out as a group), as well as other local clubs (cyclones rod and custom club). :D And then a news report like this filters through about some 'wankers' in another state doin this shit, gives the public the perseption that all clubs act this way. It just pisses me off to see a group pushing the hoon laws beyond there limits and playing dumb by saying their trying to do the right thing... it's easy.... KICK THE BASTARDS OUT THAT ARE GIVING YOU A BAD NAME. :D clean up your image then then you won't be in the newspaper for the wrong reason. End Rant..... 2c. Quote
Jero Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 This is bad then. I may have just given a bad image of RollaClub to a few Belconnen residents. I didn't intend to slide the rear out but it did anyway. Overcorrected and ended up hitting a gutter. Now my steering is out and something else has to be bent. And if I drive over 60km/h it starts to shake badly. I still havent even properly fixed my car from the last crash! wah! Quote
