Havent you check the Vehicle ID plate for the engine code/type?

That photo is interesting in a way cause to me it screams out conversion but the id plate says its 4a-g

Is that your engine bay ? or one you found on the net for a similar motor ?

If you don't want to turbo it you'd probably have to get aftermarket cams for any serious gains. Costs a bit of cash to do the shims, add an aftermarket ecu for better gains if you go too wild with them. A factory airbox with a KnN panel filter will probably make more power that a cheap pod too. Apart from that you could try and tweak the cam timing to get better response and try running with nice quality plugs and leads.

It's a conversion - VIN plate says 4AC not 4AG (you can distinctly see the lack of an E). That, combined with the 3-bolt strut tops and lack of strut brace tells me that this was an ordinary 4A-C powered AE82, not a factory-4AGE Twincam model.

And to add extra info/narrow it down, it appears to be a 3-rib bluetop bigport too (intake air-temp sensor on the plenum)

To the OP, if you want information on 4AGEs in FWD applications, head to either Twincam.info or AE82oc.net, both focus on FWD Corollas.
