So help me out here guys, I am torn between what to do with my KE11.

This is the look I am trying to achieve:

This is how the rims I got sit so there is plenty of stretching or welding on extra metal to do:

So vote and help me out. There will be no over fenders as they will not suit the shape of this car :jamie:

Who would be stretching your guards Luke?

Expect no change out of $1000+ unpainted.

Although probally the hottest looking option also the most expensive. Also your right with the flares, they are no go on a KE11. It was hard enough to get them to look good on a 20.

I am expecting a bill of around the $1000 mark for the guard work!! I will have to see some crash shops about it and see what their thoughts are :jamie:

a serious roll and hammer flare would cover those..

rear is a little more difficult but definitely do-able

tyre choice will be critical as to keep stockish apperance a stretch will be required as the inner

guard section will roll back into the body . shouldn't need any cutting or addition of metal there.

another option is to cut along the factory trim line and up though the centre of the wheel opening and "widebodying"

the front and rear arches. a good panel beater could do it easily and add 1-2 inches .

i had it done to a capri years a go and most people couldn't pick it.unless you stood in front and looked down the side, then you could see the guards had a concave apperance front n rear

I honestly think you should try and find some 13x7J wheels on yahoo.jp with +/-0 offset, even low positive for the front. 4x110 13x7 MK2's etc are not rare to find on there anyway. With 175/50 tyres, or 175/60 if a 50 is too small you you

Would look much neater with wheels actually fitting stock-looking guards, with just the inner lip rolled (so they appear stock on the outside).

If you can achieve actual good fitment this way I think it will look much cleaner, and that way you can always change your mind later on, not having destroyed the guards.

I know you have said you don't care about molesting your car as its not original with respray but its still a very clean KE11, would be a shame for it to be cubed.

I think you should find some wheels that fit under the guards. They'll still look decent and wide once lowered.

Is stretching the guards an attempt to make the wheels more subtle and less detectable? Because you are still widening your track - so there's it's still defectable yeah?

these fitted my mates car no cutting . could do with a lip of the gaurds though at the rear

15 x 50 x 195, on a 6inch wide rim

Yeah but see the difference in the dish between them and the 7 inch wide ones.

If Performance made the 6 inch wide with the same dish it would be fine, but they don't :jamie:

other option you may wanna try is to see if you are able to shorten your diff to allow you to tuck the wheels under the original gaurds. not sure if there is enough room behind the wheel to the arch though with just standard wheel on it let alone 7inch rims . wish you luck though , will look the goods in the end

It is a very neat car that one. My advice would be to not do anything that can't be undone. There would have to be 100 ke70's out there to every ke1x sedan.

Go subtle, get a set of those 14x5.5" tarago/celica steelies redrilled. Fit a set of decent 185/60 tyres, whitewall them and fit your crown hubcaps. The thing will look sweet and have a huge improvement in cornering power over gay 12" tyres.

Spend your cash on suspension mods that actually make the car handle better, and on a tough turboed K series motor or something. The car may not look as fast with this route, but it will sure go and handle a lot better than the same cash spent on poser spec mods.

Hmmm, tough choice...

I vote to get rims to suit the car rather than modifying the car to suit the rims.

Iv'e managed to fit 215x60 under the rear & 195x60 on the front. The look your going for doesn't seem to have flared guards. None the less pumping the guards out would look sick. I'm of no use here on this topic.....

The first photo is my car, the second photo is just wicked!

I saw a hot Ford Anglia in the hills today with 7 inch wide Superlights all round and the stretched metal guards he had on there were perfection. Let me just say that on the Anglia the wheels would have hung out the guards by way more than they do on my KE11.

I now know what it would need to look like if done.

I really need someone who is good with chops/photoshop on a computer or something to give me a concept, coz once I start on it it's too late :jamie: I can supply more pics if someone is keen
