Kim_G90 Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I wonder what diff i can put in to my stock ke20 axle. to make some skids  and survive some drifting Thanks //Kim Quote
KEI069 Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 reckon a 9" should be up to the task and handle a few skids Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) 9 inch is WAY to big for what hes after Id almost be inclined to put a KE30-55 diff in, locked centre and that would be up to the task. If not other options are hilux, R31, commie, prado. But these will all need more work to fit than the KE30-55 diff I'm running a shortened hilux with a locked 4.11 centre, currently making 211rwkw and thrashed everytime i drive the car and i havnt had any problems with it, its been the in car for almost a year now. I did hav clearance issues (diff hitting bump stop, removed bump stop and diff hit the floor) until i fitted stiffer rear leaf springs, after i havnt had any issues. Hasnt hit once since then Edited November 26, 2009 by 13BT_KE20 Quote

coln72 Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 A locked KE20 diff handled a couple of years of abuse in motorsport behind a worked 5k Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 at the end of the day it comes down to grip levels My stock LOCKED diff lasted a decent amount of abuse with the stock 12's (155's) on the back, i only snapped axles (and as a result munched diffs) when running my 15's (195's) on the back Quote
fusion Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 You know what. I reckon you could do a TA22 T seires diff if you were keen. You would need a custom tailshaft and get mounting points moved I reckon. However this leaves the option for an LSD down the track and will easily handle the 3TC. It was what I was going to do in the KE30  Cheers Fusion Quote

Locked stock diff would do the trick compared to an LSD. I'm not saying it's better, but for a KE20, a locked diff is probably the cheapest and WAY easiest option. Unless you're doing an engine upgrade, I don't see the need to even worry about the diff (that is if it's locked). Quote
Kim_G90 Posted November 26, 2009 Author Report Posted November 26, 2009 Thanks guys for all your tips. It's good that u can answer so quickly.. //Kim Quote
fusion Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Ah yeah I might of worded it wrong. He could lock it up easy with a TA22, but have the option for an LSD in the future if he wanted it. And mainly suggesting a TA22 instead of something like a KE30, because I know mine blew really quickly with the 3TC and I pretty much babied it around after that Quote
hemi 6 Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 I put a TA22 in my ke20 , its only 10mm wider than a standard diff , but has alot larger axels and bearing supports which is a good thing, stops diff centres exploding ,took me 2hrs to refit the diff ke 20 mounts and install ,and so far has handled a 300 hp 1jz-gte cheers 1jz 020 Quote
NorthCoast_Rolla Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 hey bud you can put a datsun1200 ute diff almost straight in, they have thicker axles and are very strong i put one in my ke20 race car. you can also put on disc rear brakes easily from an old square shaped nissan bluebird trx. its alsothe same stud pattern.
