rolledup Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Thinking about trading my sedan for a wagon only thing is I'm iffy about what rear sus the wagons are able to run because there leaf right. Just need some advice anything would be great thanks Quote
anastasios Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Thats a bit of a vague post man, what do you want the car to do will determine your setup Quote
rolledup Posted November 19, 2009 Author Report Posted November 19, 2009 I want it rock solid. Got plans for it to become a tracker. Quote
anastasios Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 tracker? as in you want it for circuit racing? or drift? because they both use different setups Quote
silverra23 Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Leaf springs certainly present more challenge for setting a car up for the circuit. There is no easy adjustability, and if you want to do it properly, each time you want to make it softer or stiffer, you really should be talking about new leaf packs/reset leaves. Of course there are ways around this - reversing them, adding or removing a leaf, etc etc etc. Not to say it can't be done - plenty of old Corolla's (KE20's and KE35's) running leaf spring rear ends and doing very well on the track. Taz_Rx Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 ^^He's said enough about leaves, so now you just need to do some googling to find out what you want to do. As for shocks, anything adjustable from an AE86 will fit. IE TRD 8 way adjustables like what I have. :y: Quote
rolledup Posted November 22, 2009 Author Report Posted November 22, 2009 Cheers for the information. Swap didn't go ahead so I'll be sticking with the sedans for the mean time. Quote
theketokid Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 leaf reset with extra leafs. sway bar. and some stiffer shocks. and it will be sweet. :) Quote

And then the rear hanger can also be adjusted in height - toe in/out in a corner and if you want to get into the whole thing of cutting/shutting/welding the front pick-up point of the leaves for either higher or lower mounts also changes the suspension characteristics, which also brings about another thing if both the front and rear mounts are moved be the same amount.
