ROLLN'03 Posted June 29, 2005 Report Posted June 29, 2005 Just make an offer on the T25..... I was going to use it on my 5k..... It is a nice sized turbo and if set up right, it would make some really nice useable power! :D Quote
beerhead Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 Lol, I blew my rings yesterday. Gonna slap whitey's 4K block in for a while, so It's time to rebuild the 5K for the blower. Been pricing some new ACL pistons too. Pretty good deal. I think I'm gonna keep as much capacity as possible over running the skyline pistons, the more gas to spin the turbo the better. Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 how much are you paying for ACLs? my 060 4k pistons were $161.90 repco cost price skyline pistons? they go in a 5k? from what engine? Quote
beerhead Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 Yeah I was gonna get my mate to get me cost repco ones too. The Rb20det pistons aren't a direct fit. I was gonna get the bores machined a few mm's and get it sleeved at my mates workshop. Quote
beerhead Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 Will I make more torque with heavy skyline pisons and a 1.4 capacity? Being a turbo motor there's always downforce on the pistons, so it should hold together ok. Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 (edited) so rb20 pistons are of a smaller bore than 5k pistons? you'll make less torque with less capacity. i'd say it's more trouble and expense than it's worth really the weak point isn't the pistons, it's the rods and crank. some people reckon you can use 1G rods and pistons in a 4K, so you'd be able to use the rods in a 5K generally you can force just under half a bar into a stock K engine and it won't effect it too much. wind that up to say 10psi and things will go bang regularly Edited August 11, 2005 by Super Jamie Quote
ROLLN'03 Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 So you still after that turbo for your project beerman??? :jamie: Quote
beerhead Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 Hells yes, when are you down Quote
ROLLN'03 Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Not to sure, maybe just cruzin down for a quick trip soon..... I'm installing my new 5k in a week, so ill be held up for a little while.... View - Rolln03 is coming to Brissy post in a few weeks.! :jamie: Quote
beerhead Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 Cheers Jamie, Do you or anyone know the size of the 1g gudgeon pins? Thinking along the lines of 81mm 4AGZE pistons (20mm gudgeon) and 1G rods with that new piece of information. Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 (edited) not off hand, but it could possibly be in the ACL piston catalog, which you can download in pdf off their website http://www.acl.com.au/ from memory it's not in there tho. i googled and found something i wrote myself on this message board :jamie: couldn't find any info except to say they're the same bore and have the same number of rings and ring size as a 4k, and someone who thought 1G has a 20mm wrist pin as opposed to 18mm 4k. if you could find a catalog with pistons or rod bearings for a cressida or mark ii you could confirm Edited August 11, 2005 by Super Jamie Quote
beerhead Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 I googled till I couldn't google any more. There are hits with the right keywords, but they're about 10 posts away from each other in the messages. :jamie: Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 yeah, it's something i've never been able to find either. maybe a mechanic at an importers could tell you, or lexus dealer service would have access to manuals that would have it Quote
Toycrash Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 (edited) My google says that the pin is 18mm http://www.jccpiston.com/style/content/CN-...17804&rid=16598 Edited August 11, 2005 by Toycrash Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 toycrash is the new king of google :jamie: that's for n/a motors tho. the forced 1G-GTE and GZEs may be stronger. you'll notice later generation smallport 4AGEs (and GZEs) have a 20mm wrist pin, whilst the early bigports are 18mm Quote
