rob83ke70 Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 no brainer, clean it up make it run right and buy a mini spool or weld the diff... Robert. Quote
h1_roll4 Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 4age + locked diff = mad driftz yo Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Give it about 5years and if you stick with it you might manage it... You will have to know more than most mechanics who fix cars for a living, and I assume you're starting from a base of zero knowledge right now! How about you win a few gymkhanas first (my daughter came 3rd in her class in her first one today and would have come 5th overall if I hadn't got her lost in a couple of tests.. :) ) so youlearn to drift an almost stock car on gravel or wet tarmac. Then you can tackle a full suspension, brakes and steering change... not much of the car left now is there... take it out and win some khanacross, & a sprint or two. Then do a full engine conversion with a new gearbox, spend billions of dollars on getting a turbo to work and setting it up, and win a few hillclimbs... Then you throw away the welded diff and get a decent LSD! When you can do all that you will be able to drift. Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Oh, I forgot- If you just want to go faster, buy twin carbs or a Weber, a set of extractors and have a cam cut... Cut the springs and you're in business.. sort of! Quote
Xany Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Step 1 = Buy a brick Step 2 = Bolt some wheels to it Step 3 = ??????????????? Step 4 = Profit! Quote
tas_ae71 Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 find a big hill and go down it, wooo fast. Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 (edited) *edit* Turbo it, or just run oil squirters over the rear wheels...... Edited November 15, 2009 by Toy-Yoda Quote
Axentrik Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 (edited) Bigport 4age and t50. BC AE86 coil overs are cheap T series LSD Diff. BAMMM SUCKER I suggest starting with a manual AE71 rather than a KE70. the 4age will drop straight in as they already have T50 gearbox and A series engine mounts. or just head over to www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums and buy a set up car Edited November 15, 2009 by Axentrik Quote
kiahn Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 get a r31 and weld the diff, or get a ke70 weld the diff, get stiff springs and stiff sway bars, pair of 20 yr old tyres for the rear and so decent ones for the front and you will have fun oh btw get a HD clutch otherwise you will have no chance of clutch kicking, only feints or handbrakes get a lightened flywheel too, will let your engine rev quicker when the wheels are spinning also use search button Quote
towe001 Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 (edited) Bloody hell here we go again Its a wonder the flaming hasn't really taken flight yet and its a wonder this thread is still going.... Blooody hell Get someone to trailer the car up to O'Reillys Guesthouse in the Lamington National Park and roll back down - Its cheap and bloody effective way of learning to fly Oh yeah before i forget - Link for a damn good site Edited November 16, 2009 by towe001 Quote
white_sandshoe Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 poor poor drift bunnies... K engine will seriously struggle. I'd strongly suggest getting something with at least 1.6 if not 1.8 litres in the engine department. stiff ass springs all round. second hand stuff-all tread tires for the rear, good grippy tires for the front. If you end up with a carb car, weber and extractors and cam... If you can make the change to EFI do it, but still get cams and extractors. Turbo or supercharging will help, but it's best to stiffen the suspension and put crap tires on the back and learn with that before letting the car do most of the work. Where are you practicing your drifting??? on drift practice days i hope... just go down and have some good long chats to the guys who are doing it, and get a good handle on the theory. Maybe try and talk someone into letting you ride shotgun and see how they do it. Quote
