mikeys toy[RL] Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 ooooooooo so much fun!!!!!!! can't wait to get my Cricket out here!!!!!!! t minus 12 days.......... Quote
rjenman Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 the whole purpose of a motor in a car is to make the car move. To do this, you need the power to the ground. Whilst drifting, you have next to no power to the ground. exactly Quote
ROLLN'03 Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 WOW, what a thread....... YOu can tell that the Initial D thing really has lead to false things, like the whole story of the young kid trying to get down the mountain the fastest way....... NAH AH.... Even though the rally drivers do slightly DRIFT through certain corners... they only do so because its a better way round then a sharp u turn.... The best way to solve the situation is to hire out the game, road rage 3.... purpose built drift game.... or even most driving simulation games.... - play two player and one person sets up for drifting and the other for circuit racing, and battle and see who comes out first..... I agree with ALMOST everyone..... drifting is slower - its more or less just a hsow off sport! :D But we can all agree that drifting in the wet for a bit of fun never hurt no - one...... :P Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 rally drivers do slightly DRIFT through certain corners i prefer the term SLIDE :P Quote
demuire Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Wow, doing a 4 wheel slide or something :P Quote
Teddy Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Old cars reallllly do it, for me... that just looks cool what ever it is. Quote
Nat-ae71 Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Aaaarrrrrrrgghhhh!!! Not a Centura!!! *scrambles for something to vomit in* Sorry if i offended anyone on here who owns a Centura....... Anyway, back to the "Initial D verus Reality" debate, true drifting is never going to be as fast as grip driving in almost all instances, but i think it really depends on what type of car/surface/driver combination you're looking at. I personally own a Puegeot 206 gti (don't worry I own a corolla too) and I have found that one of the fastest ways to corner in this car is to barrel into a corner and use weight shift to get the back end nice and light and effectively "drift" through the corner so at the exit the car is facing the correct direction. Of course 50 people are now going to flame me and say front drivers suck and that they can't drift...... but u get that.... Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 ah but thats not "drifting" thats a 4 wheel drift or slide. which i do myself. and also used in rallying. its not "drifting" though :D Quote
Redwarf Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 No, this forum is a little more mature than that. A little. What you're desribing is more like the traditional "drift" that race drivers have been using since they carried their own mechanics in the passenger seat. It is an effective way of getting around corners. As opposed to the "d0rift0" method..... Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 (edited) haha i just noticed this thread is in off topic and jokes... in that case: drifting is the fastest way around a race track :D :D :D Edited June 28, 2005 by Mr Revhead Quote
Guest Rice^Canon Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Has anybody here drifted an AE92 seca through a roundabout in Toowong lately I think i saw ya sticka? :D Quote
demuire Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Has anybody here drifted an AE92 seca through a roundabout in Toowong lately I think i saw ya sticka? No, but I heard that someone drifted a Daihatsu Mira around there sometime last week... Apparently it was a perfect drift too, e-brake on entry and got the car sideways about 150m before the corner, was smoking it up by the time they got to the roundabout and then full lock around the roundabout. Had a lot of stickers though, don't know which one you're talking about... Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 i drifted my trolley around isle 11 and 12 at the supermarket last night. all the other 14 yearolds thouht i was soo cool Quote
KE30Coupe Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 But we can all agree that drifting in the wet for a bit of fun never hurt no - one...... :D My old Cortina would probably disagree with that statement.......he used to get hurt quite often when I would "drift" in the wet :D Of course that was before I became a responsable citizen and I no longer drift in the wet (at least not with the family in the car) Oh yeah............drift slow, grip fast. Quote
Guest Rice^Canon Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Nah doods, i'm serious there was a red AE92 seca got sidewayz at Toowong roundabout with a sticka on it. Whoze car it is? Drift is slow, but if you can grip drive into tha corner and drift out it can be fast Quote
