Niroc Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 my engine choice (at the moment) is to turf the 4k and squish in a 7k but its known as not being a revy motor which doesnt bother me much cause i like torqe but i do want to cam it up so it will rev a bit more than standard.. the question is does anyone make cams for them?? i know wade cams does 4k & 5k motors but is that interchangable with the 7k or does he actually do cams for the 7k or am i wasting my time? i will put on twin webbers and a proper set of pipes too when funds permit.. SLO-030 Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Sorry its a little off topic but can someone confirm I can't run a solid cam in an engine with a hydro valve train? Quote
anastasios Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 yea i don't think its recommended, but i think taz does it Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I'm pretty sure i can't but i will wait for a definate answer. Hydro cam in the utes kicked it in on the #1 inlet lobe and a Brand spanker lumpy cam has come up for $100 with lifters and gears. Only thing is that its a solid grind :S Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 WOW WOW WOW... No don't run a solid cam with Hydro lifters good bye push rods, lifters, lobes on cam I did it once before in an emergency and will stuff motor.... Hydro lifters use different ramp rates etc research it wont work. Cameron Quote

Taz_Rx Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 yea i don't think its recommended, but i think taz does it Nope. I've done a solid lifter convo....... However I think Coln72 is/was running a bigger cam still with Hydros. Camtech have to lots of K series listing. 3k/4k with solid lifters...... http://www.camtechcams.com.au/toy_4cyl_3k4k.html And 5k hydraulic..... http://www.camtechcams.com.au/toy_4cyl_5k.html As the 5k and 7k camshafts are indenticle any cam on that second link should be fine for a 7k. :S Quote
