silverra23 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 (edited) Hi all Through the Toyota Car Club down here in Victoria I have received some correspondence from Toyota, as they are putting together a display of original Australian built Toyota's. They already have a good collection from the 60's when AMI first kicked off, but then it drops off, so they are looking for some assistance from enthusiasts out there. If you have a nice nanna spec corolla/corona/crown that was built here in Australia, they would like to hear from you. Given you won't have your car for a few days, I am thinking it will suit Victorians mostly. Anyways here is the message - contact Peter on the email listed, or alternatively PM me. > I'm the National Manager of Product Training and Publications for > Australias favourite car company. > > My employer, the Toyota Motor Corporation Australia Ltd, wish to hold a > display of vehicles to celebrate the commencement of volume production of > Australia's first Hybrid Car and 50 years of manufacturing Toyota cars in > Australia. > > You probably already know that the first Toyota to ever be built outside > of Japan was also the first Toyota built in Australia. > > Anyhow, the TMCAL collection covers most models built thru the sixties > and we are seeking cars built at Port Melbourne during the '70s, '80s and > '90s for the display, which will be at the Altona Manufacturing Plant on > December 11th, 2009. > > If any of your members have such a car in good condition and are prepared > to let us look after it for a few days (they'll need to be on site for a > couple of days before the show and will be under 24 hour security and > pampered by professional detailers), the corporation would really > appreciate your help. > > Alternately, if you know somebody who has such a car and they may be > willing to allow us to display it, they can contact me by email at [email protected] > > My office phone number is 03 9647 4325 or mobile 0419815037. > > thanks > > Peter Carpenter > National Manager Product Training > Toyota Motor Corporation Australia Limited Edited November 5, 2009 by silverra23 Quote

silverra23 Posted November 12, 2009 Author Report Posted November 12, 2009 They are all full now. Thanks for making this a sticky mods. Hopefully a few of us will be able to go down for a look even though its not for the public. Will post some photos if I can :S Quote
Ben-89 Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Full already? On Monday Peter replied to an email I sent saying he would be in touch with me. They don't waste any time! Quote
silverra23 Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 I don't think they had time to muck around! Pulling something together like that in just a month's time is a bit of a challenge I imagine :) Quote
dfunkt Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 AFAIK, there was himself and two others at least attending to responses via email and phone. i wonder how many cars have been offered? and how many they'll have out for viewing? Quote
dfunkt Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 (edited) well, just dropped the MS65 off this morning. had a short chat with Fiona and Peter while waiting for the cab to arrive. they knocked back someone on friday cos their dash was cracked in a few spots. also got a peek at the new camry hybrid. :P and some other special news (for me it's pretty special anyway, others not so much) on tuesday night at the TCCAV meeting. silverra23 Posted December 7, 2009 Author Report Posted December 7, 2009 Will do. Might be the excuse I need to be able to get in - I am dfunkt's chaffeur :P Quote
dfunkt Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 oh, don't think that i'm in either..... i'll just be a random that happened to bring his DSLR along while walking home from work :P Quote
KEhendo Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 well this is the first i have heard. i'd love to come down and see a bunch of overrated ami toyotas. where, when and how do i get in? Quote
dfunkt Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 it's an employee function hendo, held at the altona plant. and it appears that i'm officially out of sneaking attendance on friday. have just found out there'll only be 2 of us in the office, instead of the usual 4, so no chance at all of getting away :) Quote
