hosedogg Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 that's it :S shall be an awesome car to drive for when i get my license back :) can't wait to get to work on it. Quote
hosedogg Posted January 8, 2010 Author Report Posted January 8, 2010 Picked up the engine. The guy also gave me another spare block for free so pretty stoked with that :lolcry: Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 Should go awesomely. Ive driven what i think would be the 1.6l version of this in an MX5 with extractors/exhaust. Held its own against a VE 6lt :jamie: Quote
hosedogg Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 Yeah I can't wait. And having the spare block now I'm thinking of leaving the complete as is and get it all in and running then rebuild the spare block instead. Also got a mate that's going to fix up the plenum for me for free so it suits rwd :P so I might start saving up for a gearbox now. And gotta try and work out something for where the the top radiator hose connects to the rear of the head. Quote
hosedogg Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 ok everyone, finally got around to putting the pics i took of the wagz while i was in canberra onto my photobucket. Â here they are :D Â Â Â Â Â Quote
Evan G Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 looking good mate! Â the laser engine is a fwd? what you gonna do about the FWD to RWD set up? does the engine spin the right way? Quote
hosedogg Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 Just getting a forward facing plenum made up to suit rwd. Going to use one of my xf tb's that I have laying around. And also getting a fuel rail made up to suit 14mm o-ring injectors. The factory ones suit 11mm o-ring. Gotta get mx5 ignition setup. And need to get a 90 degree fitting made up for the thermostat fitting in the back ofthe head. The mx5's are in the front of the head. Quote
hosedogg Posted January 30, 2010 Author Report Posted January 30, 2010 what's everyone's thought's on removing the gutters? also thinking of replacing the front seat's with some race bucket's and fit in some 4 point harness's so i can be held in nice and tight for some track work. Â also any body have any idea if it's legal to move the battery to the back of the wagon? would be a sealed battery and in a battory box ofcourse. Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Leave the gutters mate. I had the same thoughts with my 38. They create a nice border for the top of the doors. Â If you do decide to remove them, make sure you have some real good door seals :) Quote
hosedogg Posted January 31, 2010 Author Report Posted January 31, 2010 main reason for wanting to remove the gutters is because they are rusted out and filled almost flat with bog lol. and i also am looking into getting new seals throughout the whole car also anyways. Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Fair enough, maybe chop and repair? Remember the gutters are actually the seam/join for the side and roof of the car. Â I ended up making new sections for mine as they had bog in them and some parts were only holding on by the bog. Quote
hosedogg Posted January 31, 2010 Author Report Posted January 31, 2010 Yeah I'll have another talk to my cousin about it. He won't be starting on the car untill his moved back down here now. But that won't be to much longer. Also found some number plates for it. Thinking of grabbing them now so they can't get taken on me lol Quote
hosedogg Posted February 7, 2010 Author Report Posted February 7, 2010 Worked out the thermostat problem. Under the timing cover there's a big welsh plug and 2 bolt holes for where the mx5's run there thermostat. So all I gotta do is get an mx5 thermostat housing and block of the hole on the back of the head Quote
SLO-030 Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Nice discovery, Should make things alot easier. Quote
