hosedogg Posted February 9, 2010 Author Report Posted February 9, 2010 yeah joined the fordlaser forum, guy on there has one in his escort so i asked him how he went about things and told me about that :) just can't wait for my cousin to move down here so i can rip the 4k and box out to start on the conversion  Quote
SLO-030 Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Start rippin out the 4k....NOW. I pulled the one out of the 38 single handedly. Get to it :) Quote
hosedogg Posted February 9, 2010 Author Report Posted February 9, 2010 i would if the car wasn't 4 hours away lol, can't quite reach that far :) Quote
SLO-030 Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 I said..... .....Get to it :) start wishing for Go-Go-Gadget arms? Quote
hosedogg Posted February 10, 2010 Author Report Posted February 10, 2010 plus a go go gadget neck so i can see what my hands are doing  but in all seriousness, i should have the engine out on the first weekend that the car is down here :( as i really want to make sure that it is done before i get my license back, as just adding up costs on the vl, and i don't think it'll be able to be ready before i get my license back, so might focus on the wagz instead  Quote
hosedogg Posted February 14, 2010 Author Report Posted February 14, 2010 what's everyone's thought's on fixed back bucket seats? thinking of getting obx daytona seats for the corolla, look very supportive, and only weigh 7kg each :) also at 72 degrees sounds like a fairly good angle, tomorrow i'll set my vl seat to 72 degrees and see what the angle feels like. i've never sat in a fixed back before, so got no idea what it would be like having them in my car. anyways here's a link. http://hgeconsulting.com.au/raceworx/obx.htm Quote
SLO-030 Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I can vouch for the Daytona OBX seats. Having been in Brodies KE30 with the same seats. +1 for the Daytona's from me. I was actually looking where to buy these but could only find stuff on Ebay. Cheers man, Quote
hosedogg Posted February 15, 2010 Author Report Posted February 15, 2010 i been told autobarn sell's obx seats, yet to call up and confirm that though. but modyourcar sells them here: http://www.modyourcar.com.au/pair-of-obx-d...rts-seats-p2261 and thats good to hear :) is he a member on here? would like to see some pics of them fitted Quote
hosedogg Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 also just been told on fordlaser forum's that forged piston's and rod's stock head and stock cams with 19psi through a gt3071r should see me 250rwkw :) and i'm going to be using a gt3076r and upgraded cams with forged pistons and rods on 20psi, so i should be seeing over 250rwkw :P Quote
seabiscuit Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Sounds like you've got it all worked out Matty! Shame to hear about the bog. When I'd called the guy before I bought it, I asked about the rust. He said the only rust he could see was in the driver pillar. Flaming liar he was. :P What's the benefit of fixed back seats over bendy seats? I'm sure they can't be THAT much better for what they're designed for. :bash: I've already got my seats sorted for the KE30 so I don't need to worry about it though :) Quote
hosedogg Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 Well if you have a look at the Daytona seats where you actually sit in the seat the sides are huge so got alot more support there. They are also narrower then most reclineable ones. Which is a bonus for me cause I'm only little lol. Also the daytona's are 7kg each. And the lightest obx recliner is 12.5kg each. Plus got no need to worry about someone putting the backrest somewhere else on me :) Quote

Whenever you are, come and check out the seats I have. :bash: Canberra cruise on Sunday 7th of March. Pretty sure you should make the trip just for that :P ps. Just looked at that site again with the seats and I rekon you're just doin' it cos they're cheaper! :bash: Edited February 16, 2010 by seabiscuit Quote
hosedogg Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 (edited) yeah also cheaper lol, i just reckon they'll hold me in better :P i'll ask me mate if he feels like going up to canberra for it. his looking for a first car, might be able to talk him into getting a kexx if he comes :) also have spoken to my cousin and keeping gutters on the car now, just going to fix them up. hosedogg Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 does anyone know much about getting this engineered in vic with the bp motor in and turbo on? spoke to an engineer and he said the only concern is the emissions testing. once that's passed it's easy, but taking that test scares me :P he said in vic it only needs to meet the requirements of the car though and not of the engine, so that should make it easier, seeming as it will have a cat convertor on it. The test is easy. If you've got a turbo running, it will only pump more fuel at higher rev's so just tune it to use less fuel! Otherwise pretty sure there'd be absolutely NO dramas whatsoever - that is if the job's done right :P ps. Why the cat? Edited February 23, 2010 by seabiscuit Quote
