I'm wanting to install HID lighting into my AE102R. I looked through the repair manual and it doesnt list the actual globe type i need. Anyone know? Or has anyone got some good online resources for learning about how to do this?

if its a brighter light/whiter light have a look at narva range of plus 50/Arctic Blue/Blue Power, as i currently running the arctic blues in my ae92, and i highly recommend them over a hid conversion that is quite possibly illegal.

I know what you're saying re: blue globes, but it's also worth mentioning that HID conversions to cars that diidn't have them standard are illegal. ie: In breach of ADR's.

Standard bulbs are H4 combination low/high

HID bulbs will look shit though without proper projector headlights though

I beg to differ on that note! if aimed right in the headlight they work a treat, i would never go back to a standard halogen bulb

Why not get an adr approved set then, Ie Bosch or Phillips set from autoban, $499 a pop

as Hiro said, without the projector surround they are too glary for oncoming drivers. some imports which have standard HID have them removed for compliance because they don't have the lense cleaning jets : the dirty lenses also cause more glare.

i recently installed a set of hid on my ke30 and got a set of hid with 4000k only so its not as bright on the road and i can see very gravel or a coin on the surface road. i paid $165 for H4(hid),got pulled over and the officer said nothing and he even liked it :2thumbs:

LOL!!!^^^ i was looking at hid for my ke55, 5300k for $200 and $100 for the new headlights.

common problem is that people put hid in there cars and don't adjust there headlights correctly and just blind the oncomming traffic
