G'day guys.

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is an easy strut conversion to do just so that the spring seat sits about 2-3 inches higher?

Because i've brought a set of 17" Mags for my KE55 but the spring seat is only just sticking out too far and my wheel wont get enough clearance to bolt on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Mark.

don't no of any easy strut converstions ,but you could convert to coil over . seach xt130 strut.

Wheel spaces not my choice though

Buy some wheels that fit

If you really like the wheels the cheapest and easiest (and nastiest) way to fix it is to just use spacers. 20mm ons to suit an s13 should do the trick. Theyre not legal and a lot of people don't like them blah blah but me and many others have used them without any problems

Its not hard to get the spring base turned off in a lathe and welded on higher up, but it will raise the car those 2-3inches.

Then you'll have to raise the rear to match, or run stiff short front springs which means changing shocks to match the springs and THEN changing the whole rear end to match...

Either way you will radically alter the whole handling package!

Corona strut conversion (XT130) sounds like your best bet, but seriously 17's on a KE55 is going to look crap!

Get some wheels in the right offset in 15's and she will be a good thing.

Thats just my opinion of course

:hmm:

Third that.

But if its what you want - KE70 struts might be the better option cause the springs are narrower then the '55, t-18 etc etc. But the brakes are the same size to the '55 so the best option would be either upgrading to the xt130 or t-18/ae86 struts and then converting them to adjustable coil overs for the needed room. Cause really its just so damn poofy running big rims with tiny little brakes.

Other then that backspacing - get the correct backspacing and they'll fit....

Edit - i can't number things.... :D
