Jason KE30 Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 Maybe I could go with the old 2t out of a celica or something. How much power can you get out of one of those bad boys? Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Don't Honda motors turn in the other direction? You'd have to flip the diff or something. LOL, flipping the diff.....great. 2T would be alright if you build it up. alot more rev happy than the 3T but for the same factor it lacks the 3T torque. You may actually be able to get a Cert. of Exemption from engineering as overseas models had a 2T fitted. Quote
JJT036 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I would go with the 3T because of what Ryan said, They give out more Torque in Less Revs, which makes it Fuel Effecient, unless he said it in a different way. Josh :S Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 That's it Josh, Less rev's = less fuel. I'm all for displacement, but in such a light car i think the 2T will be suffice torque wise, plus having some spare revs up your sleeve is always handy for getting out of some un-expected situations :S That said, Jason, If you have some Puerto Rican blood in ya, then all hail the 3T :) Quote
smeetsy1 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Jason, i've got the 3T in my ke30 and it's enough to have some fun with. Having said that, i haven't driven a 2T. You're welcome to come have a drive in mine to sus it out. Will. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 Hmm... thanks for the offer Will. I might just take you up on it. Little update, my dad did some welding today on the inner guard at the rear. Tomorrow he'll be welding in the new patch. I'll post pics later on tonight. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 Ok so here's the pics of what my dad got up to today while I was at work. Hopefully more to come tomorrow. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 Started stripping the front beaver panel this afternoon. Straight as a dime. Just had a bit of surface rust. Pretty much just attacked it with paint stripper and my trusty dewalt 4 inch grinder with the wire wheel attachment. Gotta love that thing :P. Will be buying primer tomorrow. With a few other paint supply bits and pieces. Gonna try and get one panel done per night. Considering I have a deadline now I've got to get crackin :y:. Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Lookin good Jase :P certainly moving along. don't forget, that 55's coming down saturday for wrecking :y: Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 14, 2010 Author Report Posted January 14, 2010 And here's the finished result. Went out and bought Epotec Ceramic primer. Hopefully I've done it right, otherwise it won't cure. We'll have to wait and see I guess. Oh and PS. If you're going to be using this stuff I highly recomend using a spray booth as doing under a pergola with two large dogs running rampid it's kinda difficult. Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Ceramic primer eh? fancy. appologies for not coming by today. got caught up wiring floodlights and helping luc with body work. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 14, 2010 Author Report Posted January 14, 2010 Yea no probs man. Looks like I did everything right. Just checked the panel out this mornin and it's lookin sweet. Only very slightly tacky, can barely notice. Otherwise it's only got a little bit of dust in it. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 16, 2010 Author Report Posted January 16, 2010 So yesterday I stripped the original boot lid down to bare metal, but the thing had imperfections everywhere. Couple of dents and high spots here and there. So I went out and got a perfectly straight one courtesy of Ryan. Unfortunately I ran out of paint stripper half way through so I'll have to carry on tomorrow. I also got the left hand guard down to bare metal. It has a very small amount of rust spots down the bottom of it but it'll be and easy fix. So tomorrow the plan is to get this bootlid in primer and the left hand guard welded. I'll also start stripping the right hand guard and see how far I can get with everything. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted January 18, 2010 Author Report Posted January 18, 2010 (edited) So here's a pic of the boot lid I got off of Ryan. I'm glad I ended up using this one as it was pretty much straight as a dime. Progress is coming along quite well. But now that my footy training starts tomorrow night I won't be able to do as much as I have been. But still on track to getting this thing done by March 26th. Hope you guys like it.
