Falken_KE30 Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 (edited) Had this about 8 weeks now. Is a nice Little car to drive. Is 4 speed, 1.6L. Lowered about 3" in rear, 2.5" in front. GTi Flares and Front Lip Recovered Dash 4" speakers in dash, 6x9's on rear shelf. Plans are 1.8L, rebuilt, balanced, ported and polish head. bigger cam. 5 speed box have all that in shed waiting for me to drop in... mainly CBF has kicked, the little 1.6L runs pretty well so see no need yet. Falken_KE30 Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 So been a while since updated, basically been working flatout on it. Now has the following 1.8L Ported head Bigger cam electric dizzy 32/36 weber Extractors into a 2" system HD clutch and light flywheel Spax 2" lowered springs allround Bilstein (i think) shocks allround Genuine GTi Front and Swaybars Front lower Brace Some Nissan seats (so comfy) Sports wheel Found a Genuine parcelshelf and holders, now fitted with a granny rug over top ;) Replaced all window rubbers, slightly tinted windows. It sits a bit higher now which is ghey, but it handles 100X better. this is the second 1.8L thats been in her in 2 months. First one went it, drove for 15mins, washer and bolt holding weber filter plate down came loose. washer ended up down carby and smashed some valves :). Havnt got current one running yet, got timing problems but its in and cranking :S And the Sticker Says it All :( :D Quote
seabiscuit Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 And the Sticker Says it All :( :D :) Seen one of these out the front of my tech. Pretty cool looking car. Must be a hell of a lot of fun to drive being a 1.8 with all of those mods. Shame you broke the first engine. Need some 12" rims with an equal amount of dish and it would look awesome :S But seriously... any plans for some fat little wheels? Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted January 5, 2010 Author Report Posted January 5, 2010 Yeah one day, 13x7 and 13x8 hopefully. And yes its a giggle to drive, alot of torque in a small car, front wheels just turn to smoke in first 2 gears, Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 and it lives, turns out all this timing problem ive been having was a bad electric dizzy, or sender unit. dropped in points dizzy, turn key, done :S Quote
36panvan Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 cool looking little car, i like it :S Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 Cheers mate. I like it, a bit different i think anyway. Quote
philbey Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 cool little golf, I dig these things. My mate had one that he nossed. I'll move this to the non-toyota section as well. Quote
smeetsy1 Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Ah, i love these things, they come up on melburg luft a bit. Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 yeah you see one every now and then, but most are owned by enthusiasts which is good, you know they getting looked after :lolcry: got new plugs in today, got a mate coming over later with timing light, going to time it up set gaps on everything, adjust idle and mixture and then i should be good to go :jamie: Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 so, got it timed, the mark bounces a bit so was hard to time, so gotta find the cause of that. Float level is low and mixture is off a bit. But even with those niggle bits holy sh!t does it move :lolcry: and the noise, omg, the wife could hear me two blocks away from inside hahaha Quote
