ae95- wagon kid Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 hey would i be able to have 7afe cams re-profiled to be used as performance cams for a 4afe and would a 7afe ecu and injectors be able to be used in a 4afe if so where can i get these parts and how much are there any more torque creating mods for a 4afe i might be doing a swap later on but i wouldn't mind working a 4afe (easy to learn and work with) cheers Quote
beerhead Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 If the 7AFE cams have a bigger base circle on the lobes I'd say you may be able to get a regrind done, the more difference in height, the more lift and duration you should be able to get. As for the ECU I'd think that the 7AFE would have a lower rev limit and retarded timing advance over the 4AFE, probably a downgrade more than anything. I'd be trying a 100kw 4AGE ecu over the 7AFE. You'd just have to double check the injector wiring matches between the 2 motors, they'll either be sequential or in banks or 2 injectors. Quote

And hate to spoil everyone's parade, but the Toyota EPG lists identical part numbers for 4AFE and 7AFE cams. So no difference whatsoever by swapping them (pretty much the whole head is identical, it's the extra stroke which gives the power increase, along with ECU mapping. Quote
ae95- wagon kid Posted October 19, 2009 Author Report Posted October 19, 2009 ok what can i use to make more torque cams porting etc i want to strengthen the engine then possibly do a turbo setup i don't want to swap but can i put a 4age head on a 4afe block and if i can what would it take money resources wise cheers :) Quote

About the easiest way to get more torque is to go up in capacity in the length of the stroke, hence 7a-f Quote
