DattoFrog Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Our Story. A couple of week back I purchased this T18 for a few hundred dollars. Pulled her from a shed where she has been hibernating for the past 2-3 years. Gave her some fuel, fitted a battery and away she went first crank(electric fuel pumps are handy) into gear and off she went with no hassles. As the photo atest she is no "Belle of the Ball". I am hoping to pull off a "Cinderella" type deal. As you can see she is a granny spec T18, L3TC/T50. On completion it will esentially still be granny spec as this car is for my kids not me. I will be keeping the original plant as it runs really well. The rest of the drive train is also performing as it should. The down side is of course the body. Although free of rust, one of the benifits of the Western Queensland climate, the rear quarter, interior and the overall finish need some serious attention. She has already cost me $1500, the fine for driving an unregistered/uninssured car on the road. I picked it up two blocks away from home and just my luck, just as I was turning into my driveway one of our over-zealous new constables noticed no plate and no label. It Happens! I have posted a couple of pics just so you can see what I have. I recon that I didn't do to bad with this purchase. I hope to have her on the road by Christmass. My plan for the paint is just plain Toyota White with a Dove Grey accsent while trying to keep the interior the stock Blue. Maybe a set or rims. I have a set of 13X6's ex Datsun. The PCD is right but I will have to measure the offset and back space just to make sure I don't run foul. The only photos I have were taken at night. It Looks worse in the daylight but hopefully not for long. I imagine that I will be posting here a bit while hunting for parts. Cheers All, Peter. Quote

JiP Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Not a bad little car it will be once done. Hey just seeing that second last pic with the caption... Did the officer say something about your nuts being exposed? Or is that you saying you want to cover them? Best bet would be to find better rims or paint them black and dress them up with a nice chrome dress ring and white/red walls. Quote
DattoFrog Posted November 9, 2009 Author Report Posted November 9, 2009 Painting the nuts is ok but the thinners burns a bit!! Quote
