Felix Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Maybe he just thought it was obviously illegal and was just doing his job... too wide, too low. I don't agree with his comment though. Quote
xiaolong Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 change wheels and springs. solved. Quote
Karllos Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Thats an absolute prick i was flabbergasted when i saw your KE20 on the last cruise. Its an all too common problem these days, i know police in the hills pick on p platers a lot just for the sake of defecting them. For example i noticed a getz (or maybe a lancer) something new that was a bog stocker came through work that had a canary for worn tyres. Having wheel arch flares shouldnt be a problem and raising the height of the car should be easy as a result of the flipped springs I'm assuming it is a regency defect. At least if you go through one time they tell you what needs to be fixed/changed and then you go through the second time and they can only check what they found wrong in your car the first time, so basically if you do everything they say to do then your car is back on the road. Also if you get your car back on the road you have a notice of roadworthiness from regency u can use to your advantage if ever pulled over again. Hope all goes well if need be give me a yell and il lend a helping hand if i can. Karl Quote
ke30 driver Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 when you ring up and book an inspection, try to get it in at murray bridge Quote
SoulSearcher Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 naawwwww :jamie: bummer but it shouldn't be all THAT hard to get it through Regency??? Quote
Karllos Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 when you ring up and book an inspection, try to get it in at murray bridge Hes got a point they are renowned to be more well lets say "relaxed" Quote
kexxxclub Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 This cop is just doing his job, by the book. No need to call an officer a prick for doing their job. There were obviously reasons why your car was checked over. No offence your car looks great, but when mods are made that clearly stand out, it only becomes a cop magnet. This is where us rollaclub members should research alittle harder into legal requirments when modifying our cars. That way when we are pulled up and inspected , we can correct the officer if he / she tries to pull it off the road. As long as our mods are all within legal standards they wont we able to crush it as they put it. I think he was just trying scare tatics about cubing it. Remember if we didnt have cops on the road checking cars, god knows what will be getting around unsafe. In the end it tries to create safe motoring for all road users. I know your upset about your car, and the officer may have been harsh with his words of 'cubing it'. Maybe he had his reason for saying it, i don't know. Hope you get your car back on the road asap Quote
RA28GT Posted October 14, 2009 Author Report Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) I forgot the other comment he had was "what do you think your driving? a Torana?" because only Torana's how flares apparantly. f@$king idiot. Ive started making a list of things that i need to change and things they may pick on, can you guys help educate me on the possible things they may pick on? Certain things to change: Front springs too low Flipped rear springs Spacers all round Wheels 7” wide with -7 offset Slight stretch on tyres Horn doesn’t work Tinted Tail lights and indicators Exhaust pipes far too long Unsure: 5K instead of 3k? (Non matching numbers) Venetian? Cut guards? Front aprin? Fender mirrors? 25mm hole in firewall for stereo cables? 5 speed conversion? (hole in floor not perfect) Smaller sports steering wheel? Holes cut in inner doors dor speaker install? Glove box removed for CD player? Under diff exhaust? Stereo installed in boot? (Bolted heavily) This cop is just doing his job, by the book. No need to call an officer a prick for doing their job. There were obviously reasons why your car was checked over. Hope you get your car back on the road asap I call him a prick because their is no real need to defect my car. If you can name a reason why its a hazard to anyone else on the road then ill take it back, the car doesn't ever travel over 90km/h. Ive had officers pull me over before and have commented on how good the car looks, yes its obvious its illegal but its not hurting anyone. The other reason hes a prick, why on earth would he use 'scare tactics' saying he could cube my car? on what grounds? I was simply driving to work doing nothing wrong, i never 'hoon' I'm actually ok with the car being defected its my own fault for the modifications, but i don't wish to be treated like a hoon for doing nothing wrong. Hope you get your car back on the road asap Agreed 100%. Just fix it. If you can't get it through, it shouldn't have been on the road in the first place. Having said that, I truly hope you quickly get it back on the road, just in a roadworthy condition. And as for the cube comment, so what. If any of you guys were cops, I reckon there would be a few smart arse comments coming out when you pulled some crappy Falcon/Commodore over! I know I would :jamie: Quote

fusion Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) From what I can help you with, but not 100% on this. When doing the Regency run - Take stereo out of the boot (Just to make things simpler), but should be ok since its bolted down - Steering wheel will fail, unless you have ADR certificate. I think they like 370mm+ only. Maybe get a stock steering wheel? - Stock steering wheel should be able to help you out with your horn issue to, unless its wiring related - Take off the spacers - Can you get a rubber grommet for the 25mm hole in the firewall? They should be ok with it if you make it tidy - Make the 5 speed conversion neat. I don't know how neat it is now so I can't neccesairly comment. However weld a new plate if needed, make sure it has the appropriate rubber booting over the top of it and it should be fine. - Glove box shouldn't matter - You can change your engine numbers with the 5K without an engine / road inspection / test as its not a major upgrade. I am pretty sure you can even just ring up and change it over the phone (this may be tricky with the defect, however I don't know for sure) - Can you get another set of door cards just for the sake of making neat, just for the Regency run? - Cut guards shouldn't matter to much with the flairs, but best to check online Cheers Fusion Edit: Just found this, sorry I can't go through it for you, but I got some Uni work to do  ADR Approvals Edit Edit: Looks like they have updated their website again. Alot of the above information is alot of jargon. Might be best ot ring up :jamie: Edited October 14, 2009 by fusion Quote
kexxxclub Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) Good luck with your car, if you need anything I'm happy to help out, have a garage full of spares for ke20. Anything small like a stock steering wheel or standar rims etc. I know your pissed off but just relax with the comments towards them. We can all help eachother Edited October 14, 2009 by kexxxclub Quote
parrot Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hmm, to quote from a certain build thread. "Besides if I'm going to get pulled over i think my rear shelf is the last thing i have to worry about haha." No one said it had to be standard height, just a sensible height. Have you done anything to eliminate bump steer? And if you are running spacers, you're asking for it. I imagine with Adelaide being a small place, your going to come across these guys again. Step back and have a look at it from the police(legal) point of view, do what you need to, and it will still be an awesome car. Quote
Doogs Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Good luck with it mate. I don't really protest against the laws because most of what they ask is pretty fair and for good reason. His comment was completely unnecessary and rude, and coppers wonder why they have a bad rep with a large amount of motorists ! Chin up and get her back on the road once more. Quote
SLO-030 Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 That sucks balls Troy. I had a pig of a cop when i got defected. making comments towards both the car and myself. If you need the cut guards fixed let me know and we can work something out. Quote
