LukeAE71 Posted January 22, 2010 Author Report Posted January 22, 2010 Mine has a jap diff so I am busy sourcing KE30 Jap Axles for it... I have a feeling though that the axles won't bolt up to the KE11 diff housing anyway (bolt pattern not same) regardless of shortening them and resplining. I have read about the bolt pattern issue here and elsewhere. The shortening and resplining wouldn't have been an issue though. The other option is to get the original axles and drum covers re-drilled to 4 x 114.3. I was told this has been done albeit not the greatest option due to lack of surface area etc. If I were to do this I would look into options of getting the axle ends (where they bolt on, don't know there offical name) made larger so there was more surface area. Either way I am going to take the axles to a machinist to see if this can be done. At this stage I want to get these rims on in a time limit, with minimal expense. If you were running any sort of power in these things the logical options would be a T series rear end shortened or like you said R31 or Pintara. Really the original diff ain't going to take much of a beating, though I'm sure others will argue and tell you of their 300HP KE11 running the stock diff. I am really chasing a spare diff and axles etc from a 10/11 so I can play around a little ;) Quote

KEI069 Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 This is a really cool little project I've been playing with Ke10s for quite some time and used to run an injected 4K with 96rwhp and with the standard diff i snapped six axles in a 3month period (could change them in 15minutes) so i had a t series diff (from t-18) cut down to suit. I used the t-18 brakes and all but the expensive part was getting the new axles made. I think they used Hilux axles and machined them down and i kept the 4 X 110 pcd. Also had to drill the drums After years of abuse i still have this diff fitted with and LSD centre and will be going in my new Ke10 project. The reason i used the T series diff was to keep some floor clearance where the bump stop is mounted and the fact it looks like a corolla diff (I didnt get it engineered) Hope this helps with your decision Cheers Justin Quote
LukeAE71 Posted January 31, 2010 Author Report Posted January 31, 2010 Well after some hard thought I have decided that I will keep this thing original  The more I think about it the more I can't do it to this car :D Those rims will have to go on another project!! Ryan I'm coming down the workshop on Saturday and I'll remove the "airconditioning" I guess I will have to find another car for that too  I'm going to hunt down another KE1x or KE2x to do some crazy mods to in addition to this stock beauty :) Quote
LukeAE71 Posted February 1, 2010 Author Report Posted February 1, 2010 Well f&&k me I just bought a 5K :D Maybe just original on the outside then :) I started today all emo thinking I wasn't going to change anything on this car but the 5K literally fell into my lap  Quote
Chobis Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 That I have no issue with. In fact i'd love a 5k in mine. Original from the outside will still make me very happy :) Quote
SLO-030 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Now that I think of it, I'm happy your gonna keep it stock. I love the look of it. If i could buy it tomorrow, I would. Quote

RA28GT Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Better be for something good Luke! Quote
LukeAE71 Posted February 15, 2010 Author Report Posted February 15, 2010 Troy - I have good taste so it will be something good that replaces it. I really want something I can modify that is a little easier to work with. Brenton - Why??? Well I can't stop thinking of modifying it and I know I shouldn't. Combine that with the fact that anything I do to it probably can't be reversed so I figured it best to pass it on to someone who will just appreciate it as is. I think you will be pleasantly surprised as to who the new owner is, I know I was!!! He will be keeping it neat and original and driving it lots!! That's the other thing, I have hardly driven it because I feel it is too precious to drive too much. Like I said - pussy :P :bash: :bash: :bash: With this new car I have my eye on, I looked at it tonight and it's not as good as I originally expected. It's an EBAY job so I will give it a crack. But I will press on, I want the funds from this to go to something awesome so it will be worth waiting for the right one to pop up. And besides, I am a gentleman - I accepted his deposit so it is sold to him :) Quote
Chobis Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Well bugger me! I'm intrigued. I'm kinda hoping Nick got it. Whoever you are...... Please reveal yourself. :) Quote
