ROLLN'03 Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 I was wondering if anyone has ever hooked up an oil catch can to a k series engine? and, how it was done? Just a question that has been bugging me... And if it was attached, would it really be of any use, or should it just be left for the turbo cars? Thanks :(( Quote
demuire Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Just plumb your rocker valve cover to it, and if you have a return then plumb that back to your carby or air cleaner. Yes it does work. Not rocket science. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 I run the 375ml ghetto brand oil catch can on my K motor, quite cheap really, just need to run some hose to it.. Quote
demuire Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 I had a redbull can once :blinks: And then it became a :(( Oil Bottle Special :danger: Quote
coln72 Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Old man tried something like that but stuffed up the somewhere along the line - ended blowing the dip stick out of the motor so it shorted out the coil :(( Quote
Super Jamie Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 you really need a vacuum source to move the air from the crankcase to the can. use fuel hose, hook up a can of some sort, filled with pot scrubbers, between the pcv and the sandwich plate you'd be better to remove the pcv valve and put a large diameter piece of hose on it, so it gets constant vacuum Quote
Xany Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 i can't seem to find the picture of my engine bay when i installed my catch can...i'll keep looking for ya...basically i don't have a PCV valve anymore and it goes directly into the catch can....i emptied out the catch can for the first time the other day and it was about half full.....shoulda seen the crap that came out of it though....i wouldnt like it to be in my engine. Medicine_Man Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 I've never had a problem with mine, just got sick of it oiling up my carby on the outside and oiling up my air filter.. Quote
ROLLN'03 Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 thanks guys, i almost got it...... well sort of?! So you just run the inlet from the top of your rocker cover and the outlet in the air filter? ive seen a few and i did understand but then SUPER jamie onfused me with the vacuum thingy! Quote
ROLLN'03 Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 What are these so called, POT SCRUBBERS? Quote
demuire Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 Pot scrubbers - like those stainless steel wool things that you use to scrub your pots with :P It helps to trap the oil vapour Quote
ROLLN'03 Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 OH! I see now...... :D Thanks. :P Quote
ROLLN'03 Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 So is it really worth all this i wonder??? Quote
demuire Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 After you see the sort of crap that ends up in the catch can, you feel better that it ended up there and not anywhere else :P Quote
