SLO-030 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 this is the car that lip came off of. Damn, I'm good. Looks great Charl, Keep it up :2thumbs: Quote
charl Posted October 31, 2009 Author Report Posted October 31, 2009 you sure know your corollas Ryan!! Quote
FoxInDocs Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 HaHa! So, Charl just let me have my first drive of the Rolla! I'm used to driving something like this: which is a pretty cushy, girly, zippy little manual.... so in the three seconds was in the drivers seat of the rolla, i managed to compression-lock the rear wheels and blow one of the indicator lights :2thumbs: I think i'll stick with the Paseo for now......... charl Posted November 4, 2009 Author Report Posted November 4, 2009 scored this today for 250 bucks from toyoland!! 5k Goodness!! Quote
JiP Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Sweet!! The tire come with a free K engine?? :) Quote
JiP Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 That should see a rather nice increase in power :) When does that go in? or are you rebuilding it first? Quote
charl Posted November 4, 2009 Author Report Posted November 4, 2009 well the plan is a complete rebuild, cam, bore it out, get the head done etc all the stuff people usually do as well as running twin carbies. but I'm still in the research stages as i don't have alot of experience modding these engines. but the aim is a tough little mild street tuned engine with lumpy cam. i will definitely be asking ALOT of questions before i start sending things off to get work done. ive read tha "building a tough k engine" wiki but i still am very unclear on alot of things. Oh-KE Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Hey mate nice score. Is that from toyoland londsdale? I thought they closed.. Quote
charl Posted November 4, 2009 Author Report Posted November 4, 2009 The guy there is called Rick, he is closing but has a bunch of stuff there that he needs to get rid of. might be worth the drive if you need something? Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Toyoland, open? Interesting. Thanks Charl. Quote
charl Posted November 4, 2009 Author Report Posted November 4, 2009 just got lucky today i think. i don't know if its actually "open" but if you ring them you might get lucky..... Quote
charl Posted November 4, 2009 Author Report Posted November 4, 2009 (edited) anyone know anything about gilmer drive sets for 5k engines? apparently a place in NZ called endeavour engineering can do them but i don't want to pay 650 bucks for it!! Edited November 4, 2009 by charl Quote
fusion Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 They cost a bit because they are more of a one off production. You might get a price decrease if you get a group buy going. If you want to know about them anymore I think Taz Rx ordered from that NZ place through another member. Quote

If you want to know about them anymore I think Taz Rx ordered from that NZ place through another member. i read the whole thread about the gilmer bulk buy that happened last year. i am spewing i wasnt around at the time! i just got an email back from http://www.californiaspeedsupplies.com.au/ saying they don't have one specific for the 5k but the guy said this: "Charl, Unfortunately we don't do a Gilmer Drive kit to meet your needs.. If you are determined to put one on, the best solution would be to purchase the Holden V8 kit for $245 and either re-drill or adapt the crank and water pump pulleys to suit your application. Craig California Speed Supplies" is this a good idea? price seems alright. :y: I really want that sound for my 5k! Quote
