Hans Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) Hi Everyone, i am after extra long Lug bolts for my AE92 Corolla they are for the rear wheels, because i had to fit 5mm spacers in the back so that the 17' wheels fit, the nuts "just" fit. spacers weren't required for the front they fit just fine, for peace of mind i would need longer bolts than the stock bolts for the rear. where can i get them? the rear brakes are drum. please help me out. thanks heaps! :) Edited October 5, 2009 by Hans Quote
SLO-030 Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Have a look on www.toymods.net there is a stud comparison thread there somewhere. Should be able to give you the info you need Quote
parrot Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Sigma's across the generations have substantially longer studs. I have changed all mine over in the AE86, however I am uncertain if the FWD Toyota thread is the same. You would want to make sure the studs match your nuts obviously. Quote

Hans Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) You guys are awesome! thanks heaps :) Longer wheel studsEffect: If you're running with alloy rims, they may actually be thick enough at the hub seat so that the wheel nuts don't fully thread on. With longer wheel studs, you are assured of a better fit and peace of mind. Click here to compare the OEM and longer Land Cruiser wheel studs. Wheel Spacers Effect: By increasing the tire track (width) of a car, you can help lower the suspensions' roll center. What does that mean? To put it simply, you can balance out your car the way you want it to suit your driving style. Believe it or not, H&R (the famous suspension company from Deutschland) actually makes a set of spacers for the AE92! They start at US$69 per pair and include longer studs and 2 alluminum/magnesium alloy spacers. Choose from 5, 15, 20, and 25 mm thicknesses. i just have another query: would the standard AE92 Corolla nuts fit the Landcruise bolt? is the thread pitch the same? by looking at the photo provided they seem to be.. Hiro Protagonist Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 would the standard AE92 Corolla nuts fit the Landcruise bolt? is the thread pitch the same? by looking at the photo provided they seem to be.. Toyota almost universally uses 12x1.5 thread studs/wheel nuts, so chances are yes they will fit. The only thing that tends to vary is whether the stock wheels take cone taper or shank nuts Quote
Hans Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 Oh awesome! thanks ;) i was gonna go to the wreckers and full try the nuts on both the corolla and the landcruiser to see if it fit :) i'm still gna do that, somestimes the thread is damaged and you can't tell unless you have a closer look. parrot Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Check the sigma / magnas too as I reckon the length is about the same. And they are far more common at the wreckers. Quote
SLO-030 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 How much longer are the sigma ones? and does it include all sigma models? Sorry for the Hijack. Quote
parrot Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I have searched around but can't recall where I posted it. I think it was about 8mm longer than what I already had. But I also note that I had two slightly different length and presumably stock studs on my AE86 (fitted with JDM struts and rear disc diff). And note you can look at the Magna ones too. Quote
SLO-030 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 8mm really?!?. I made up some 9mm spacers for the front of my 38 and the studs are only just long enough now. If they're 8mm longer then they'll be perfect. Thanks Parrot :D Quote
Hans Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 hey i don't mean to be such a noob...but i am assuming if i get the bolts from the sigma they'll be a straight fit into the ae92? Quote
parrot Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Yes, the shank diameter will be the same, at least it is the same as an AE86 etc. I doubt AE92 changed. BUT, take along a wheel nut to confirm the thread. Quote

BUT, take along a wheel nut to confirm the thread. you are right :( I went to the wreckers today and got the bolts from the Mitshubishi Sigma (of course i had already taken a bolt from a ae92 rolla for comparision) thread pitch is the same, and it's a perfect fit! i just fitted them on this afternoon, they're great! I'm very grateful that you brought that up, you have saved me a lot of time and thought in terms of longer bolts fro my ae92! cheers  refer to my thread to see how I'm going ;) http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=34123 Sigma Bolts compared to Corolla AE92 Bolt: Edited October 10, 2009 by Hans Quote
