andro0o Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 hey guys, I was jsut about to pull my 5k out to paint the engine bay and clean up the motor. So I was jsut wondering, how i was to go about polishing my head and timing chain cover and stuff? Is there somewhere that i can get a step by step with what products i can use? or a place i can take it to in sydney? thanks. Quote
KEI069 Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 Try to find a place that does aqua blasting. Ive had my head done and it comes up awesome. It polishes the surface and leaves it smooth. Cheers Justin Quote
jason12 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Sandpaper, autosol and a LOT of patience.... Quote
anastasios Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 ey man take a look on jdmstyletuning.com also google, i started doing it, it all depends on how much money you want to spend, and how much effort you have Quote
altezzaclub Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Smooth surfaces you can do with a buffing wheel in a drill and cutting compound... Panelbeaters stuff... So timing chain covers and tappets covers & thermostat etc you can easily do yourself. I like the idea of plasticbead blasting or aqua blasting the cast items like the head, and then just paint the block. Pictures of course!! Quote
philbey Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Yeh 1200 grit sand paper for the rocker cover and then hit it with autosol. I dunno about polishing the actual head though, that's a cast finish and you'll need some serious work on that. Quote
