Crowie55 Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 (edited) On Thursday night i was crusing with friends; i will be the first to admit that i was giving the car some curry. The engine finally had eneough and some part within the engine decided the sump wasn't where it belonged. it broke free spewing all the oil out of the car; thus turning it into a rolling smoke machine. Its gona be a hard lesson; I bought this car with my own money and have only had my p's for 7 days when it happened. :( from the looks of things I'm gona have to buy a new engine. with my own money; luckily i have some coin in the bank; although its for my schoolies. :) sad thing is the one i blew only had 115000km's on it. only good thing to come out of it was that i got a free tow home by RACQ something to do with 10km free tow when u sign up. :) anyways the damage is shown below. u can't see the second hole in the sump cus i can't get the camera in there, but it is about the same size as the one shown. holes are about the size of a 50 cent piece. Anyone seen anything like this before? Edited October 3, 2009 by Crowie55 Quote
anastasios Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 yea engines tend to do that, havent seen it through the sump before though Quote

h1_roll4 Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 haha good effort. I had a rod shoot through the block on my old 4k. Was on the inside lane of the freeway when it happened to. Quote

By the time you buy all the bits and have the crank ground and bore and hone the block if need you could be in the $,000.00"s go with the 4 k and get the number changed on the rego, take a weekend to swap it over with a mate every thing same bolt in fit. Yea I agree, really just want to get back onto the road; not having my rolla is like Asian water torture. Just bolting up another 4k and changing the numbers over is the cheapest and easiest option. Roo Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 i got a 4k, but my mate might want it so not sure will ask him if you go the rebuilding route i got a spare crank/block you can have for free got new big end bearings and shit too you can have I'm in elanora near palm beach Quote
rob83ke70 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 I reckon you should find all the bits you can and rebuild it.... nothing like a bit of repair work to teach you how it all works... Robert. Quote
