still going on this air box ,proving to be a bit of a mission ,been on it since last friday nite now, hoping to get it close to finished

by the weekend ,realy want to move on to some intercooler piping aand see how that goes,

still have to research the piping and see what extra pipes has to be added,

thinking I'm going to have the bov on the hot pipe side,

i know theres a huge debate over which side is best ra ra,

reason I'm choosing that side is purely to make the job easyier,

since it will be close to the air intake pipe i should be able to route the plum back line in fairly easy,

I'm using a turbo smart kompact dual port, it can be set as full recirc or recirc on mild driving and full vent to atmosphere on hard driving,

but need full recirc for engineering purposes,so hopefully that will do the trick.

any way more box action!!!

have pretty much completed the basic box set up, after cuting out some very tricky shapes and gluing them all in,then using sealer over

all the joins, its looking more like a air box

all the insides sealed up ,this has been alot harder to make than the alloy one !

tho the fit of the filter it self is very tight i just wanted to make sure it was locked in so ,drilled some holes and threaded them out

to take some screws, now the filter is locked in nice to the frame

next i wanted to be able to just screw the afm in and not have to fiddle round holding nuts and screws and trying to screw things in that way,

so got some square nuts sanded them up ,sanded around the holes and glued them in place, also put some small squares of plastic hard up against

the nuts to help them stay in place when tightening them, also ran sealer around them for extra lockage...

next!!!!!!

next step was fit the frame into place and glue her in for good, this sits on such a random angle but its where it fits best so thats where its going,

54097165.jpg

once the frame was in had to make a small piece up to fill the hole at the top, done that and sealed all around the frame and pieces,

next had to think about how the lid is going to attach to the box , as for the lid, I'm thinking I'm going to make some sort of duct on the top that

takes the air from the top of the rad support, that should be ok untill i can do my cold air ram smash it in there duct.

i took a leaf from the old box and got some speed clips, these take small scews , fited them to a piece of alloy L section ,

and the glued 2 of these into place!!!

this box has taken a while and theres lots going on with it, just a note on how some custom things can take a long time to create!,

Looking good Ryan. Such a professional and thorough build. Just love it

haha cheers man, just finished painting the box , next i gota get it fitted up,

then from there I'm looking at making some sort of scoop duct thingy contraption

on the lid to get air to the box,

then sort out the intake pipe ,then sort out the hot pipe

then do the bov and return lines

then sort out the cold pipe

and then it will be able to move with the bonnet down !@!!@!@!@!@!@!@@!!@!@!@

still lots to do before that happens as you can see , but one thing at a time seems to be mowing thru the lists!! more up dates soon! :)

so today was dam hot! got a few things done tho,but before i go into that stuff, thought id show another project i been working on, nearly finished to ,

this is my second arcade machine! its got led lights all the way up the back, and on the side and under the control panel ,it looks mental haha,

even the buttons light up, just got a bit more art work to fit up and be finished, its got thousands of games on it and all the

buttons and joysticks work,

and lights out!

lol any way , i finished the air box ,got it painted and fitted up to the car,

fits pretty good, how ever had to remove it after i i figured out that i need to make a intake pipe ,and fitt it to the air box before

installing ,

59799085.jpg

the next thing was to make an intake pipe and a hot pipe ,these took ages to make!! had to design the hot pipe with what i had laying around

,lucky there was a few bits of stainless pipe that i could use, i had alloy piping aswell but i thought about it and it was better to

go with the stainless as i can't alloy weld nor do i have the tools to do it,so if i went that way id have to cut up the pipes and then

wait weeks for some one to weld them up,

so the stainless it was, this way i could cut up the pipe weld them up and have them fitted right away.

the hot pipe ,

to make the pipe i used a straight piece and 2 90 degree pipes ,also i added to the ends a bit of a lip, that was realy hard to do,

took a bloody long time , had to weld around the edge then grind it all off flat, then sand the edges smooth,

then used some filler on the ruff areas,

that took a great deal of time, but i guess it was better to have the lip there so the pipes seal a bit better,

once the pipe was sorted out , i sanded it all up,and polished it, then i clear coated it ,since it was metal and the welds were metal ,

was best to clear it off so rust wouldnt form plus it keeps the shine .

came up pretty good tho considering my welding isnt that flash and it was the first time i ever made a intercooler piping,

and the intake pipe, this took longer than the hot pipe!

had to figure out the lenght ,then cut that out and then add the lips on the

edges, the 3 holes, one boost nipple ,a oil return hose, and the recirc return .

then same again sand up thru the grades, then polish, then clear coat to seal it all off.

and the blow off valve, this is a turbo smart kompact dual port, using it to run full recirculation, but with the option of full vent to atmosphere.

68398543.jpg

then all assembled up, air box bolted in, the afm fitted, the intake pipe fitted, the hot pipe fitted, the bov fitted with return hose fitted,

and paper air filter in box :)

Good thought on the ideas Ryan,

Wikked about the arcade game, gotta have original street fighter,

I know I queried your intercooler dimensions before, but if you had a taller core, the hot pipe could have gone straight over and in with a 90' bend,

Also how about feeding the air box some cool air from behind and under the apron?

Mine is tucked away underneath, and have not had any probs with it, and is secured,

yeah the arcades got every street fighter there is lol,my favs marvel vs capcom ,as for the air box i had already planed the set up over 2 years ago haha, but can't do that just yet till its all legal,

on the down side tho, went into day and was tyding up and could smell petrol realy strong :(

crawled underneath and found a fuel leak,oh the joys ,none to happy right now, seems even the professionals can't even get this right,

its hard to say where the leak is coming from exactly but its deffinatley on the return line to the surge tank, don't think its the front connection,

that seems dry but the leak is coming from the braid about 4 inches away from the rear connection,so i dare say its leaking fuel into the braid and its collecting there and seeping out ,its only a small leak ,but enough to ʞ©$ɟ me up for a while ,

problem with having a leak from the braided lines is they are cut to lenght then ends fitted, if i pull the hose out and have to cut off a section and reconect the fitting it will have shortened the hose, thus turning the entire hose in to a usless piece of garbage,

:( i realy don't like these lines and was against using them from the start,I'm thinking once its on the road gona jank that line out and replace it

with reliable efi hose and clamps , they just don't leak ,plane and simple , all this compicated crap with hoses this size and this connection and that connection ,and the cost is just rediculous,

any way had enuff for the weekend that just pretty much ruined my day ,so over the let downs on this car ,seems like the entire build is just cursed :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

haha yeah i hope so, i think ive come up with a way to fix the leak with out having to buy another line , but ill look at that soon,

just going to have a break from it for this week ,figure out what else i need to start looking at and see whats next,

cheers for the encouragement :)

well bad to worst it seems on this ,ive been very sick again the last few weeks, been fighgting my illness again seems its not going to go away in a hurry ,but saturday i felt up to doing some work,

so went in to work and spent most of the day and night stuffing around, how ever when it was time to leave,

went out to get in my car and some mother ʞ©$ɟing jew dog piece of shit had stolen it!@!!!!@!@!@!@!@

extremly pissed off about this , and has stuft me up completely , been relying on this car to get me about while I'm buiding the other one,now I'm left with out a car, i have to walk to work, which is a huge mission,i can't go and get shopping to keep me alive ,and the 1 hours drive ive been making to the hospital every few weeks to get medications can't be made , so things are just bloody terrible right now, as for the build it will have to go on hold till i can find another very very cheap car some where ,god knows where that will be,

worst time to have this happen,

i hope the ʇ~~ɔs that stole it crash and die slowly in a burning car then go straight to hell to be burnt and tortured more by satan

if any one heres of a orange ke55 1981 for sale in melbourne please let me know so i can go around and kneecap the ʇ~~ɔs then chop there hand s off so they can never steal again, extremly angry

Posted

That's ʞ©$ɟed up man :bash: . I really hope for your sake the car is returned so you can at least look after your health.

Ryan.

thanks man, yeah it may have been a piece of ass but i relied on it to get me to the hospital and to work ,so has left me

very frustrated and alot of walking to be done,

its been reported to police so maybe they will find it some where, but even if they do no doubt it will be wreaked,

on the upside ive taken all the decent parts from it so if it was stolen for parts, they be shit out of luck,

any way now i have to track down a very cheap runnabout so if you hear of anything under 500 bucks let me know!

Posted

Man that sucks, all the best with finding a new car and taking home some spare kneecaps. :blinks:

thanks i think ill keep them on a necklace and wear them around my neck as advice to others not to ʞ©$ɟ with my shit

well time for an update on things ive been doing ,

glad to have my daily driver back ,all the running around i have to do to get parts

and get around wouldnt be possible with out it.

so FRONT END ...............................

ive already done the mx62 caliper and celica disk to xt130 strut conversion, and the brakes seem to be ok ,but

the xt130 struts have a bad camber problem, even lowering the car dosent help to much,

so i needed to get rid of that,i simply wouldnt be able to drive the car like that,

so this little issue needed to be adressed.

i decided to do a differnt conversion and try and get the best results out of that one,

the conversion I'm talking about is the pug/hilux/xt130 brake conversion,

as it goes with everything ,parts that arnt spose to be on the car can make for a few dramas,,,,,,

but any way I'm going to go into some detail with this ,just so others can have some genuine imformation about it ,

as things on the net can be very vague at the best of times , ill try fill in the blanks,

this mite get abit boring for some ,and i tend to burbble alot when talking about this stuff so bare with me.

HILUX/LANDCRUISER/PUG/XT130,COIL OVER /CAMBER PLATES CONVERSION ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Well first thing i want to make very clear ,this is not a cheap conversion, this actualy cost me an arm and a leg to get all the parts together,

which i did over the corse of 18 months or so, so any one looking at doing the same just note that this isnt a 50 dollar job,

ill talk about the cost of things as i go along.
