demuire Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 I wouldn't mind a baffled sump for my 4AGE :jamie: Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 well ask it a really hard question then :jamie: Quote
kangaroosa Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 A while ago i promised to post some pics of my baffled sump (when it was finished). Unfortunately the engine builder forgot to call me when he had finished the sump. He called me today to tell me that my engine is finished and ready to pick up. Hence, i don't have any pics. Sorry. The 5K sumps already have a nice baffling setup in them standard. The only baffling that was added to my sump, was a plate at the rear of the pickup to slow down the oil rushing away upon acceleration. Another plate was added higher up at the rear of the sump to prevent oil splashing up towards the rear main seal area. Quote
Jason Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 (edited) Is this a baffle? because what ever it is its getting in the way of pulling out the dint in the sump Edited August 12, 2005 by Jason Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 yes, that's a baffle google "crank scraper", i'd like to see one of them in the rollaclub shop. with some sort of solution for making it seal well around the front and rear main carrier Quote
TRD ke70 Posted August 12, 2005 Author Report Posted August 12, 2005 any TRD uprite bellhousings in your shop??? :jamie: we have a TRD cam gear for a K engine you can use as a template when and if we strip the engine. i think the degrees are 3,5,7,10,15 and 30. i where to get new after market gears cheap. you could sell it as a complete timing chain kit, new gears, chain, gaskets and seals. TRD ke70 Posted August 12, 2005 Author Report Posted August 12, 2005 no problem for the gearbox mounts, there's 2, one for the K box and another for the T 50. As for engine mounts, WRONG!!!, you do have to manufacture the brackets to the block and use RWD 323 mounts,$12 from mazda, don't use aftermarket one's as they don't last. shouldn't be a problem to get a copy of those either. mmmm, do you still have my starlet manual??? i'm not too sure who borrowed it. blown 5k Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 You can use the left hand side engine mount on the right hand side for one engine mount on an upright application if your being a lazy bastid and can't be arsed building one flip it upside down and drill a couple of holes and cut a bit off,if you do build all the mounts you can use a cortina type mount as well $15 nz each new.As for sump baffling add a plate at the rear of the original so you can just squeeze the oil pump pickup past it block the holes at the front and sides of the origional baffle and that should be sufficient for a road car with some club racing, additional gates or vertical baffles will be required if you really go quick around corners on a circuit,my avatars my 1430cc 3k uprighted have a look at that for an upright sump idea.
