Trev Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Don't get the tech edge as they only make a kit and don't guarantee it to work with any software, we got ours to work with the nistune after a lot of stuffing around. The innovate is really good, you can also buy the obd-II reader kit (LM2) which displays the o2 in realtime and can be used as a scan tool. If you want something a bit more advanced then look at the Dynojet wideband 2 system, it is available in an LCD multifunction or a guage, if you decide on buying it then get it from Serco at Capalaba, cheapest by far.
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 25, 2011 Author Report Posted April 25, 2011 Awesome Trev. Thats exactly the kind of real world experience I was hoping to be guided by. I moved the MVSS ground wire, same issues. Will try a different power source next, but then Ill swap out the wire and see if that helps. Failing that the resistor mod can be done.
jimi91 Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 That looks awesome as mate !!!! Will make it much easier to tune etc  Looked like u needed some fuel :lolcry: see ya jimi
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 Got fuel now. lol. Heres some pics, I made this little trim to guide air into the radiator.
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 27, 2011 Author Report Posted April 27, 2011 So now Ive been to jaycar, I have shielded cable for the o2 sensor and I also have the pins to fix the wiring where the crimps are coming undone. Jaycar now sells 2, 3, 4, and 6 pin waterproof connectors for cars, like the round rubber sealed ones that most Map sensors use. I got a 3 pin one for the MVSS. I also have the resistor to use to hopefully make the MVSS work appropriately.
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 27, 2011 Author Report Posted April 27, 2011 Now wired up an o2 sensor. Its just a 1 wire, the next step would be securing a wideband sensor to tune with, then I can switch back to the narrow band and it will take car of itself after that.
styler Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I'd recommend the entry innovate motorsports wideband kit over all the rest by far, but with wideband you would need the 4/5/6 wire wideband sensor installed - common one is bosch 5 wire. Its about $350 for the set - bosch 5 wire sensor, control unit/datalogger and in cabin gauge but it's worth it compared to narrowband at $200 or so as honestly every time I have seen a narrowband it's just a few random blinking lights in operation, especially after being in there for some time, they they don't compare to wideband at all mainly due to the narrow hysteresis band at stoich that the narrowbands operate off.
ke70dave Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 the only one i have had any experience with was this one: http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/innovate-lc1-digital-wideband-controller-with-sensor-3769-p-41.html which i think is the same one styler is talking about? seemed to work good, we used it with the megasquirt ecu.
LittleRedSpirit Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 Cheers again for the info guys. Drags tonight. Bring your cars! I'm mad keen to see how the 4.5s go. Might be able to go a bit quicker. Just rang QLD transport, I now have all 12 points back! Wooooooot! Happy days. I've had that hanging over me since February 2008! I had a bad patch when I had to commute to Toowoomba to work, and I had gotten 4 small fines in a month period. No more than 115 but still they robbed me of my remaining points. Its nice to be over that now! I can stop fretting about driving for a bit! :laff: :laff: :laff:
_FNQ_rolla_ Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I'm interested to see what time you will do with the 4.5's. All the best
Jesseb369 Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Nice to read you got your points back. Have fun at the drag
Trev Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Honestly, if you want a tuning tool and something handy around the workshop (don't need it fully attached to your car) then get the innovate LM2, I will be getting one when I get the spare cash as I need to get my dynojet screen fixed before I get the controller but they are more of a vehicle mount. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Air-Fuel-Meter-Innovate-Motorsports-LM2-Single-Kit-/150553789378?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item230db483c2 Just want the o2 side of it: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Innovate-Motorsports-LM2-Basic-Single-Kit-Wideband-/180656808258?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a0ffc2142 Edited May 4, 2011 by Trev
LittleRedSpirit Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) Why is the LM2 better you think? I really just want to datalog each day and make changes at night, I don't want to use a readout or anything like that because I have it on good authority they aren't that useful as a tuning tool. It seems pretty straight forward to do it through data acquisition. Is the LM2 more accurate? Didn't go to the drags, I couldn't >| find anyone who was up to go race...
