SLO-030 Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 There is a bloke I was talking to a long while ago, Think his name was Brian. Place called DieCast Collectables. Actually did the A9X scoop in 2 smaller sizes if you find the full size one is too large. Either way, will look tough!
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 17, 2012 Author Report Posted April 17, 2012 Yeah if I find it is too big then I will just use it on the 2azfe ae86.
orangeLJ Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 (edited) Yeah there are many different sized reverse cowls. the original size is obviously the most common, but some aftermarket joints do the bigger ones to accomodate guys running taller manifolds etc etc. ohh, got a link to the ducting? LittleRedSpirit Posted April 28, 2012 Author Report Posted April 28, 2012 Massive A9x scoop in full effect!
rian Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 Holy crap! That's wild. I'm interested to know if this stops your windscreen fogging up.
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 28, 2012 Author Report Posted April 28, 2012 Fogging up? Not really an issue. Yes its big. The drops that drip over the back of it in the rain get sucked down it on the highway so the air is going down that way. Inlet temp never gets over 31 degrees when sitting at the lights, and then drops to about ambient with a few miles on the highway. So it works. I just don't know how Ill go living with it. I will have to paint the bonnet and scoop as one to clean up the look of it.
rian Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 I thought it was to allow hot air out of the engine bay? That's why I thought it would defog your windscreen :lolcry:
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 29, 2012 Author Report Posted April 29, 2012 When you are sitting still, yes, but once moving the pressure of the air rushing over the car forces a draft into it and the hot air gets sucked out from under the car. Think about how the inlets for the ventilation system work. They are right in front of the screen and they get ample air pushed through them, so this opening can accept air in the same way from the air stream.
Willis Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 That's freaking awesome, LittleRed. Looks beast lol
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 29, 2012 Author Report Posted April 29, 2012 The worst thing about the scoop is that now everyone tries to race me. This idiot in a Polo just accelerated up to around 100klm/hr on coronation drive supposedly racing me. lol. If only he knew I didnt give a crap about drag racing him on the street.
orangeLJ Posted April 30, 2012 Report Posted April 30, 2012 That actually looks pretty mean! White on white, maybe a bit of a glass job to make it look "one piece" and you'll have a good looking thing going on! the lines of the scoop match the car pretty well, the KE70 is, for all intensive purposes, the same boxy shape as an LH/LX torry
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 30, 2012 Author Report Posted April 30, 2012 I like the rawness of rivets. Ill just have the boys that I share my shed with paint it for me. It will do until I get sick of it, but I love how cool the air is with it.
