Undertaker_is_the_best Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Some bitch backed into the corner of my car and just drove away. Now I have a ruined front left gaurd. I walked out to it today at the shop and the gaurd was popped way out. There is a mark on the corner of the bumper like something hit it, the lip is fine, the bar is ruined and the gaurd is ruined. the lights are OK. So glad I hadn't just fitted the chrome bumper to it! Might just have to do the DX front conversion. no that sucks dude what a f&&kin idiot for just hitting ur car and driving away
Willis Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) I reckon keeping it slanty front would be the go. Couldn't picture your car being anything other than a slanty hahaha. That sucks about being hit though, I've had people open their doors directly onto mine and just looked at me like "ohwell" and tried to walk away as if nothing happened. Just because it didn't do much damage to my car doesn't mean it's right to just assume it's cool and leg it. What if it was Overrated bodywork and paint? Some people man... LittleRedSpirit Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 Yeah and my girl came home ranting about how someone posted on facebook that if you can't read the test and need an interpreter you shouldn't be able to get a license to drive. I must say it sounded good to me. Cue argument. After my exposure to all the goons out there, I just wish the gopro was miraculously running when they hit it. I might have to record it when its standing still just incase anyone ʞ©$ɟs it over in future. How good would it be to have footage of a hit and run occuring. I wonder if I can get a device to trigger the gopro on motion sensing...
Willis Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 . I wonder if I can get a device to trigger the gopro on motion sensing... Now that's an idea, wonder how you'd do it?
orangeLJ Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 If your alarm had motion sensor functions, it wouldnt be too hard to have it trip a relay that started a camera, would take some effort though with soldering/wiring etc.
Handiman Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Hey bloke! Saw this the other day at a local retailer. http://www.swann.com/s/products/view/?product=1063 Looks the goods to me but in a car park, may see it recording half the world going by.......... Oh yeah, what a scumbag! :abuse:
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 9, 2012 Author Report Posted April 9, 2012 Ive decided to go all out on the bonnet ventilation. I'm bidding on an a9x torana reverse scoop. I like the idea of using the low pressure area in front of the windscreen to draw air out of the bay, instead of just blasting air into it with no place to go. Ive also got some plastic fittings that I can mount on the front lip to ventilate more air through there. I just need some 65mm flexible hose to connect to them and I can fit it up. May as well use something from the same sort of era as the car. the a9x scoop is big, but ʞ©$ɟ it, you may as well go all out if your gonna do something. Hopefully its angular profile works with the car aswell.
Willis Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 YES! If I didn't want my car to be more cop bait than it will be, I'd so do something like this. Not an A9 but something similar. Keen to see how it turns out
orangeLJ Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 I approve of the torana related additives :D
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 10, 2012 Author Report Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) Prepare to see a wild looking corolla, I won the a9x scoop. Gotta have a little piece of Brocky nostalgia or its not a fast car. :laff: Edited April 10, 2012 by LittleRedSpirit 1
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 11, 2012 Author Report Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) I flush fitted 2 velocity stacks into my bumper tonight for added ventilation. I will duct them through the radiator support once I find the right flexible hose. Need about 45mm hose. Looks pretty tricky actually, I will do 2 each side of the numberplate in the long term. Then it will be able to create a decent air stream into the engine bay and the scoop should let plenty of heat out. Edited April 11, 2012 by LittleRedSpirit
Willis Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 Definitely keen to see this and the scoop on there. I had my own little ideas popping up about ventilation tonight...Nothing like this but I think it'll work Definitely post some pics up of the scoop!

orangeLJ Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 finding a relatively cheap, safe ducting is going to be the hard part, most of the flexible plastics are highly flammable or non heat resistant. Maybe some foiled aircon duct? haha, light too!
