KEhendo Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 hey guys and gals. i need to reach into the well that is rollaclub and bring out a pail of knowledge. going around the local market this morning i cam across a stall with an assortment of car bits. while looking through i found a bucket of car badges with a few toyota ones. having a look through i found this. now i was unsure of it's origin and it was only $1 so i bought it. here is where you guys come in, i need help identifying what it is off. it's an early badge because it has two metal pins/clips through the back to hold it to the panel. on the back is the code: 715253 and the little to-yo-ta symbol thing. my guess is that it's a badge that was put on some cars as a sort of marketing gimmick without them actually being sprinters. any information/pictures relating to the badge would be greatly appreciated. cheers, hendo. Trev Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 my guess is that it's a badge that was put on some cars as a sort of marketing gimmick without them actually being sprinters. Why do you think that? Sprinters were getting built in the 60's. Quote
KEhendo Posted September 20, 2009 Author Report Posted September 20, 2009 Why do you think that? Sprinters were getting built in the 60's. the ke1X sprinters have a large angular sprinter badge. like this one. i was thinking it looks more ke30/te37. Quote
parrot Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 The Sprinter font from your badge was in use from xE2x but I think it is later too. I had a look through the Master part catalogues but can't find one the same up to xE3x KE15/17 had the quirky angular font as above. I have seen that badge before but can't for the life of me remember where. Quote
Redwarf Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 I'm trying to remember if that's the same as the one on Brian Shanahan's (from Bendigo) KE25 Sprinter. (His is a genuine import one....) Quote
KEhendo Posted September 20, 2009 Author Report Posted September 20, 2009 i've got that feeling i've seen it on a ke25 somewhere because it's a similar font to the 'deluxe' badge that they have. Quote
parrot Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 That font continued on till TE5x/6x. It wasn't "modernised" till the Te71 then again with the AE86 etc Quote
Tally Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) these is part my collection, you can see that my sprinter badges are same font but the badge shape is different to the one you posted. Never seen that one b4.... These are correct for JDM KE2# and TE2# Sprinter models... pretty sure that badge is not off an Australian delivered model Toyota... leaning towards E3# series as an updated badge of mine... parrot Posted September 20, 2009 Report Posted September 20, 2009 Tally's top badge is a TE27 Trueno boot badge, and the sprinter script badges are TE27 Trueno front guard badges Quote
Tally Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 but they also come on the other models, I have the brochures here and they show them. Quote
parrot Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Yes that's right. All the KE2x/TE2x Sprinters had them. The 4 door is a slightly odd looking thing. Have you got the Zebra print brochure Tally? I've also got an early model brochure. Quote
