LXY-642 Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 I think it was candy paint I was told this about. That if you get one scratch it can't get touched up. And it means a respray. Could of been something else though. But pretty sure it was candy? Quote
greenmac80 Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 thats very possible. i'll speak to the panelbeater i know. but with a good clear and plenty of it it'd take a fair whack to scratch whats underneath. but then again painting a car isn't that difficult if you know how. Quote
skd30 Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Theres the new commy green i would one day like to have a corolla that colour....its similar to that candy paint green. Quote

SLO-030 Posted July 4, 2010 Author Report Posted July 4, 2010 I'm glad people like the idea of Poison Ivy on corolla's. I'm almost at the point of being 100% Poison Ivy. Quote
JJT036 Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 I'm glad people like the idea of Poison Ivy on corolla's. I'm almost at the point of being 100% Poison Ivy. Maybe you should go Poison Ivy, so then you can give me an idea on how it would look on mine. :hmm: Quote
SLO-030 Posted July 5, 2010 Author Report Posted July 5, 2010 Definatly going poison ivy. With the candy colour, sure i can see the finished product on a 2"x3" piece of plastic. But the Poison Ivy, i know what it looks like applied the way we will be doing it, seeing a colour on another car is alot different and more representitive of the finished product. Quote
Clapped out Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 you can't say something like that and not back it up with some reasoning. when it came round to getting one of my cars repaired that has candy paint, its impossible to match, even useing the same mixture of paint, base coats and all. slight temperature and humidity differences determine a completely different finished colour, not suitable for a daily at all, well in my opinion anyways. people who have had a similar experience or spray this kind of paint will know what i'm talking about. greenmac80 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 you can have the same problems with a high metallic standard basecoat. Quote
skd30 Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 Maybe you should go Poison Ivy, so then you can give me an idea on how it would look on mine. :) Yesh thats what i ment...picture didnt work Quote
SLO-030 Posted July 8, 2010 Author Report Posted July 8, 2010 (edited) Have a look on youtube for Scott Briants' KE355. Gives a pretty good idea of what a dark green looks like on a KE36/8. Edited July 8, 2010 by SLO-030 Quote
JJT036 Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) Now that Ke38 is a Good Example of a V8 Corolla Wagon. The photo is from the June 2008 Extreme Street Cars Issue. The colour is Glasurit Forrid Green, according to the SM September 2009 Issue. In the September 2009 "Blown & Turbo Special" Street Machine Issue, he says that he had to recess the Transmission Tunnel by 80mm, Modify a Set of HSV Extractors, and fit HQ Engine Mounts for the VT Roller Block and the TCI Trimatic. He also uses a Shortened Borg-Warner Diff with 4.11s and a Full Spool. Josh :P Edited July 9, 2010 by ewt Quote

SLO-030 Posted July 11, 2010 Author Report Posted July 11, 2010 So..Finally Saving for paint and clear. Bout $600 just there :P Also found a supplier for the seats I'm after :bash: OBX "Monaco" Seats. ADR approved recliner. Was going to go with the fixed back "Daytona". Monaco is a bit more expensive and heavier, but i'll come to regret not being able to adjust my seat in the end, Note: Black will be the colour i'll get. Monaco Daytona CHEERS Ryan Quote
