SLO-030 Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) Hi guys I recently became the owner of this 81 KE38 wagon for a measely $400 Its got a factory 4K/4spd in it. It started off as a simple clean up and paint. And as with most projects i has snowballed enormously. As it stands the specs when it's done should be as follows. Engine: 4KZ (yes, it should finally get done) Fully rebuilt engine (fark sticking with a fully stock engine) Trans: KE70 4 or 5spd. Diff: Stock. Paint: Two Tone Silver and Black. Body Mods: Shaved passenger side lock. Shaved rear door handles. Shaved Rear side boot windows. Modified Tailgate handle assembely and possibly shaved lock. Interior: KE50 Tach dash, black retrimmed seats. fresh black carpet. silver (light grey) headlining and door skins. Here are some pics off my phone. there are more coming from Luc's phone to fill in all the gaps; Oh Hello Mr. Bog :P Good Bye Mr Bog , Hello Rust :P:( Started Sanding; Looky here, A weld. Interesting New Tailgate. Thanks for the tip off Mick  Dents, but still better than rust. Got Bored, So i took the engine out. No help, No crane either  Gearbox held up by 1x8mm bolt, a hose bracket and a Happy Happy Tie Down strap (again, thanks Mick :D ) Um yea, well heres why ya starter sounds f@$ked. Oh and a fubar'd spigot bearing. Thats it for now. more pics when i can get them off Luc. Edited December 3, 2011 by SLO-030 Quote
Sam_Q Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 I would like to see how this 4KZ engine is set up Quote
Tume Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) Looking Good. By that I mean its rusty but shall be good lol. Think you need a engine stand instead of the front of the car though. Are the vents actually there? they look fake to me? Also you might want actual SLO 038 plates instead of taping the 030 ones. Don't think you would be able to get away with that. Edited September 19, 2009 by Tume Quote
SLO-030 Posted September 19, 2009 Author Report Posted September 19, 2009 It will be the same as the setup that was goign to be in my ke30. SC12 off one side. Sucking fuel thru an SU style stromberg carburettor. This one will be running a serpentine belt drive on the entire engine this tim tho. Quote
SLO-030 Posted September 19, 2009 Author Report Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) the engine was only sitting there as i had to get out of the engine bay to get it from there to the ground. I will be getting the real number plates. but I'm not gonna worry bout that for a while. The vents are there. but the passenger side is the only one that actually does any venting. the part where the vent tube goes on the driver side is full of emmisions shit.
