rb20 rolla Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 I'd say more than likely r32 more commonly found maybe mate i'm unsure all i know is it fits into the k series crossmember on rb20 engine mounts i can tell you that r32 rb20 mounts will slide into a 4k crossmember you just have to grind the little locating tabs on the rb20 one and then grind the crossmember one a bit so the two mounts sit flush. i am still using the 4k crossmember mounts just cut down an welded to 6mm flat plate with the rb20.. as for the ca18 motor swap i can NOT confirm this but i was on a skyline forum a few months back and a guy had a pintara with a ca a he said his mate had a corolla with a ca18 and it went straight in with r32 rb20 mounts but please don't take this a fact as it might not be true... SLW42 Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 Yeah cool man thats a usefull piece of information i'll keep in mind if i get told i can't use the silvia crossmember, wicked yeah i've been told with the silvia crossmember the ca sits higher in the car, but i don't know about sitting it in the k crossmember i've been told it sits lower, but if you look at my car i want the motor a little higher in the car, cause the car sits less than 3 quarters the height of nokia 6300, at the crossmember from flat ground Quote

redae71 Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Yeah cheers man it was only the motor and those extra bits i got for 150, i'm still missing alot of things though, i had a turbo for it already, well that makes life alot easier knowing that thicker headgaskets make it gay off boost, yeah it's not going into the car till it's had a full service done, all gaskets and oil filter, you by the off chance wouldn't have a set of stock ca steel engine mounts would you bud? Oh i will have a couple more questions here and there along the build for you too bud, so far the ca conversion has cost me - 150 for crossmember and steering rack, lca's, 150 for coilovers and hubs/brakes, 150 for the engine and little bits, and 100 bucks for the stock manual harness so i think it's going alright for a cheapish build, i can see the actuall wiring, fuel system and tuning being the most expensive part about it though oh and the blue plate/plates for roady but i think it's going alright so far no worries, i am goin microtech soon so if you want the stock computer (new daughterboard fitted, can be tuned) and AFM let me no and we can work something out Quote
SLW42 Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 Yeah i will grab the comp off you one day soon hopefully before i've run outta work haha, afm i've organised one for 40 bucks so what do ya want for the comp? Quote

Quote
SLW42 Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 thank's that would be nice, i just have one question will the standard rolla strut's go in to the s13 xmember i think the rolla has a 12mm hole and the s13 is 14mm from what i read as i want to keep the wheel track the same as it is now and i already have a good set of coilover's. i just can't work weather the s13 x member is wider than the rolla one wear the lac's bolt up thank's... yeah man i'm pretty sure the lca's will go straight into silvia crossmember, umm i'm pretty sure they sit bassically in the same place after you elongate two holes on the crossmember, from memory it was as your standing facing the front of the car drivers side fornt bolt hole needed adjusting, and passengers rear hole needed adjusting, other than that everything else fit perfectly  here are afew pics of my steering colomn bud this is the colomn joined with the silvia/rolla hybrid steering uni joints, i still need to take a bit off the colomn though, with this picture the steering knuckles on the left is the silvia one, and the one on the right is the rolla one, this is how it looks once it's finished with the silvia and rolla bits joined out of the car Quote
redae71 Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Yeah i will grab the comp off you one day soon hopefully before i've run outta work haha, afm i've organised one for 40 bucks so what do ya want for the comp? prob 200, then all you need to do is find a tuner that can do nisedit or if your in brisbane i can get my mate who fitted the daughterboard to tune it for you, he has years of dyno experience, just started up his business called profile autosports, uses CMR's dyno to tune on Quote
SLW42 Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 Yeah i'm in bris on the southside, whats the computer tuned for? Quote
rb20 rolla Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 wow i couldn't of asked for better pic's thank you so much now i can see where you have to cut down the colum when it's cut down you wouldn't even know, i thought that when people were saying cut 20mm off the end, that you would only have a little bit of spline left on the colum and that look's fine to me. when the tip is machined down i don't think anyone would know as the spline still travels all the way through the knuckle. i am going to ring my engineer next week and ask about doing the conversion so thanks heap's mate.. Quote
SLW42 Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 Yeah thats cool man anything else you would like to see pics of?, that photo of the colomn in the knuckles needs to still have a bit taken off it as it only just misses the uni joint, Quote
