October long weekend - Lobethal Grand Carny. I never heard of it until I saw an ad the other day on the TV and thought it was some wack as merry-go-round fairy-floss antics, until I saw some black and white clip of a Bugatti scream past!

Anyway, It turns out it's a rehash of a loooong past Bike and Car race. I foam at the mouth over vintage speed equipment so I'll be swinging up there on the sunday, drinking a bunch of lobethal brewed beer and looking at Red and Green and Bugatti blue awesomeness. Check out the site and some pics from their gallery:

I was going to put something up about this but you beat me to it.

I live directly on the race track so can sit on my front porch and watch it again like I did last year.

If anyone wants to join I can arrange something, maybe put on the BBQ, some drinks etc and watch the festivities.

Let me know here :lolcry:

I will have a think about what I can do and then post it up and see if it generates some interest.

I am not in Lobethal though, but there are plenty of ways to get in and out of the area while the road is closed provided you are prepared earlier in the day.

The road is closed for approximately 4 hours so if you don't park in the right spot you would be stuck there for the whole time, not that that is an issue as it is a great event

Yeh I reckon it sounds like a good day, between this, the bay to birdwood, Vintage Collingrove and the Classic Adelaide in November, spring is getting mighty busy with some good automotive fun!

I only heard about this caus I was asked to help out with the Sound/PA, and I must say - it was an absolutely fantastic weekend! Definately well worth the look (even though the weather was sooo cold and wet yesterday), today was awesome!

I really encourage you all to go along again next year, it's something else to see the origional 1939 Lobethal Grand Prix Track come to life!

Some pics I took!

I took heaps but these are my favourites!

Cheers,

KJ :-)

Went down with the old man today. Weather only got better as the day went on ;) Was a great event to just go and spectate.

I loved the bikes especially, stood there at the exit of the pits onto the main road, and three bikes where just revving it constantly to keep their bikes alive, while the main field came back around. The sound was mad! Many people were cupping their ears :)

I think they have a hillclimb tomorrow at Collingrove?

Cheers Fusion

It was wicked, I love being able to walk out my lounge room go onto the front porch and watch it!!!

Some of the cars were giving it some stick this year too which is good to see ;)

The No. 99 MG was my favourite, only because he was giving it some real curry on the Saturday and it sounded tits :)

I got up there for a look see. Was feeling very very seedy.

I actually missed most of the bikes running, was ordering food at the brewery when they came past and only caught the tail enders on the last lap when I ran out there. Damn it.

Snuck into the pits though as they were packing up and got some cool pics. The Black Shadow was very very nice...!

Was talking to one of the organisers in the pits area by the Lutheran School, and he was telling me that a tow truck (the regular motorsport tow truck driver) was coming into the pits towing a car which had a siezed diff, and as he was heading out, he took a corner too tight and the hook on the back of the tow truck scraped across the rear left quarter panel of a light blue 1930's car worth about quarter of a million dollars! The owner of the car just stood there stunned, and eventually they had to get 5 blokes to move the car away from the hook.

The tow truck driver may not have his licence much longer - aparently many motorsport organisers don't like him...

I think it was this car...
