hey all, i have a 3k ke35 my temp guage is sitting bit over cold when warmed up,should it be at halfway?seems to be chewing a bit more fuel than it should?i have a new thermostat to put in but the housing bolts seem like they will break if craked so I'm trying not to change if i don't need to.what does yours operate at?ta-nick

Its pretty irrelevant to speak of half way, 1/4 way etc when referring to a 30 year old gauge.

 

Install an aftermarket electric temp gauge and see what the temp is in degrees. If its 80-90 once fully warm it will be fine.

And don't be a sook with the bolts. Just remember lefty loosey and you'll be right. Its not like removing bolts from the exhaust where they get to over 100*C every day and snap 99% of the time. Not even hard to source a new thermostat housing...... I have a couple you can have for a postage cost. :no2:

hopefully have a spare housing this arvo, cheers but taz rx.but i have seen a couple thermostat housing bolts break(not toyota but) and ive broken one before its just annoying when a 10 min job turns into a two hour one,especially when the car has nothing really major wrong in the first place.if it reads the same after i change thermostat il compare with an aftermarket from my other car,thanks
