Hiro Protagonist Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 i always saw drifting as rally driving on the road. my impression was that japanese people racing up and down the touges found it was faster to slide the car and keep the revs up to stay on boost rally style than to slow down and grip round the corners. thus drifting is born. Unfortunately touge runs aren't what most people see as drifting these days. To the average punter, drifting is getting the arse end of your VL sideways around the roundabout after you've welded the diff and put stockies on the rear, plus put two burly mates in the rear for weight distribution. The professionals just replace the VL with an S13, the roundabout with one or two corners of a boring unknown racetrack in the middle of woop-woop (never been a big Mallala or Winton fan myself), and taken the mates out of the rear. seabiscuit Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Rallying is so much funner than drifting. Although I must admit, fully hektyk drifts are still fun to pull off - especially in a Rolla :y: Takes a lot more skill, balls and experience to rally than to drift. It shows because most rally drivers have been rallying for years and take a lot to get to the top, where drifting you see kids in their teens hitting up the top positions in Australia. Quote
sammo[RL] Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 funner??? :y: Do you mean 'much more fun'... Quote
DouggehKE30 Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 ??? Do you mean 'much more fun'... funnerestlyfun fun. Leave the man alone. And me likey the original allot more besteress. It was much more goodlyer. I think someone mentioned before the Fiesta didn't seem to be going anywhere near as fast, i guess because it didn't have wheel spin the whole way up and what not. I guess there Isn't much Fiesta left after "duratech" (or whatever) have finished with it. And rally beats Drift every time. Quote
Redwarf Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 Not bad. Cheating bugger has somebody sitting next to him. Wouldn't have seen Ari do that, too much weight! *sigh* Ari, they broke the mould after that bloke..... Quote

Juha is skill, technique, fluidity.... Ari just has gonads so large he requires a second 6 point harness and a specially modified seat just to stop them from flying up and obscuring his view over crests. Heh.... qoute from that vid: Nav: "100 over.... whuuuurgh.... oh god" Edited August 31, 2009 by 7shades Quote
