I'm pretty sure it does, the brakes are much bigger than the ke70 ones, cylinders and drums

wanna buy it? ;)

lol, yeah thats about how well it was running :glare:

No, just curious if they had a listing on the rear brake setup.

Finally someone has a 2 door.

Top score. I love this body, even more pleasing to the eye than a te71GT if you ask me. The pop out windows rock.

So the eventual plan is to fit the G? Once its complied and whatnot? Are you legally able to just swap out the entire firewall and weld in another from a rhd ADM vehicle? How do you have to do the rhd conversion, is there a set method they prefer to see you use? That is if you decide to do it...

Definately staying tuned.

yeah i definately prefer it over the te71 :)

yeah, the HKS 1g will be going in as soon as its registered, then a base tune done, then it will come and get built for lots of ponies

you can't swap a whole firewall, cause you take the VIN with it, and they call it rebirthing.

if you did it below the VIN, I'm not sure, to be honest i havnt read into it properly, i always knew i would have the pieces i needed, if i did go ahead with it, so didnt look into how they wanted it done, i would obviously have to consult with my engineer and he will tell me how he wants it done, but it would make sense to take a whole fire wall, if i didnt want to change the steering angle, but i might, if i do go RHD, swap in something that wont give me bump steer and i can get a powersteering quick rack for.

i really have too many options

who can tell me, what local car should we be looking for in the books to give us a listing for the 3t-c, for when i go to get the headgasket etc

couldnt find te71, and apparently not in any celicas in the book the guys had, but that was when we were looking for auto gearbox mounts, and every book seems to have different stuff in it.

A mates dad does falcon, mustang and american muscle LHD to RHD conversions. They usuall just cut out the section where the steering column and booster bolt in and fit it to the other side, rather than swapping firewalls.

got the head machined today, including 3 water galleries welded, joy to people not using inhibitor.

also got a VRS kit at a decent price, just gonna grind the valves in and put it all back together.

back to work now though so unfortunately not gonna get as much done as i have been.

got stuck into it last night and today, the old man reground the valve seats, while i got down to cleaning all the carbon off the top of the block, dunno how long this gasket had been blown, but there was a nice layer of very hard carbon on top of the block that took me half a day to remove, by then the valves were done, cylinder 3 valves look likes its munched something at some stage, which made the old man happy, trying to grind the valves in with the suction cup on a pitted surface

through the head on after lunch and slowly started putting everything back together, fixing the issues of missing bolts and stripped threads as i went, cleaned everything, set valve clearances and plug gaps, all the little stuff that gives you a warm feeling when its all done and running. i finished bolting it all up by dinner and went to start it, but instead did my best to start an electrical fire :P

i had pulled a wire off when removing the head, and found what i guessed was the end of it and hooked it back up, when i tried to start it, it just made an odd noise, and the wire was rather hot when i went to check it

found the correct wire, hooked it up, and she turned over nicely, although not starting.

a bit of patience saw it start with no fiddling though, and it runs unbelievably smooth compared to what it was, sounds so nice, which if you saw the amount of pollutions gear on the carby, you would be amazed it still ran at all after 30 years and me guessing where odd hoses went :P

went to check the timing, but my timing gun is missing the spring to connect into the lead, so I'm gonna have to get a new one in the morning and try again, then set the idle, and we are one step closer to rego.

after how long should i retorque the head?

thanks guys, the gasket set gave me no clues. the guys had had it in stock since 93, so maybe they did shit differently back then haha.

there was even any torqueing sequence, or head bolt torques on the paperwork, ill double check tomorrow but don't remember seeing anything.
