Dunno about the smallport kit on a big port, the heads are different so I'd say the gaskets are as well.

Bottom end is same same for both motors.

I found the cheap ebay kits after I already bought my rings, bearings and gasket kit. If I do it again I might try one. I paid $400 for it all from Bursons, probably worth paying a bit more to make sure you get the right stuff.

I bought a cheap bigport full set off a UK seller ages ago. Even with post it was really cheap.

Main factor for me was that I wanted the OEM style metal gaskets for the inlets.

The ACL set I looked at via repco at the time had fibre inlet gaskets

i know I'm going to get the wrong kit... just need to know if there is a way to tell buy looking at the kit or what not .. lol

well its 200+ from bursons of like 60-80 off ebay.... and i don't plan of working the engine all to much so i don't see the point in getting the best gaskets around haha

I would recommend getting a good gasket set. Sure, its $250 odd, but mmm quality. The main cost is the head gasket, which is fair enough, its pretty important. You get what you pay for and a crap head gasket will be a pain in the bum bum. My 4age had a crap one. Whoever put it in had to drill holes for the water jacket ports cos there weren't any.

How much do you spend on fuel in a month? I can bet it's close to if not more than $200. You really think it's worth skimping on something like gaskets which if they stuff up can result in engine failure and a costly rebuild? Considering they last a lot longer than a month average the cost out over the life of the motor and it will be diddley squat.

I know a lot of us are into Corolla's because they're cheap but as all people that have a few years experience working on their cars will tell you: Do it right the first time, save yourself the money and the hassle in the long run.

its like the whole buy a brand name thing...

everyone told me not to get a hyper gear turbo as they were shit ... funny enough it ran fine for the 8 months i was running it on 18 psi.... didn;pt miss a beat and is still pushing 17-20 psi daily.

i have been cheap about alot of things over the years but still did everything else the same as i would if i was using $$$ parts.

and funny enough i have never had too much of a problem.... and if it was it was my own fault not the products.

my question has been answered and i don't see where the questions says tell me What brand to buy... but thanks anyways :)
