hi people,

 

i got a turbo from a bmw 335i, its a 1.5L turbo that runs from 3 exhaust ports

 

I'm planning to run 6 - 8 psi bog stock engine

carby on the inlet of the turbo

 

(10 pounds on fresh engine)

questions....

 

how long will it last before KABOOM

 

also i know i should decomp the engine, can i use a 3k bottom with a 4k head?

 

its on a budget

You're drawing through? Is that really a good idea?

Are you using an aftercooler?

 

And have you read the FAQ yet?

 

Apparently these shitty 4k's don't last long over 6-7psi.

Stolen from the FAQ:

Some general rules for forced induction on K motors are: don't go too big, and don't run lots of boost. A stock K motor can handle 6psi quite happily, at 8psi their life gets reduced noticeably, and they go bang pretty often at 10psi.

 

And 6psi really is jack-shit.

3kc head on 4k = high comp

 

how about 4k head on a 3k? low comp?

 

i think on 10psi with no intercooler I'm gonna have problems with dentonation/pinging

 

wheres raz_rx when you need him :P

I think on 10 pound you're going to blow the shit out of your motor, not only problems with pinging.

 

Try shit like this on something decent, like an escort.

 

4k's are a bloody joke.

this better not turn into a negative $hit fight, there'll be some warnings thrown around ... :P

I have had a sc14 on a 4k running at 16 psi for a year now. So unless you have done it

don't diss it :P

 

good luck with the build mate if you build it the right way you could get any where upto

180kw

draw thru or blow thru? carb info

Bottom end was standed had a spacer plate made up,

ported head with draw thru twin 42 and a oil cooler and that on the

right tune made 100kw easy. ATM i am working on a 5k to drift with

its going to make 150kw safely, you just have to do things right in the first place
