KE70_supercharged Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 hey i was just viewing some of the old threads..one was about having your cam reground, i don't understand that concept fully..wont they work in reverse, taking metal away from your cam ? also do u need any other modifications if u have your cam reground ??
Redwarf Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 If you want to increase the lift of the cam, you grind away the back (smaller) side of the cam. As you adjust your tappets on this side, it will follow a larger lobe, thereby increaseing lift. You're not regrinding the whole cam, just re-profiling it.
KE70_supercharged Posted June 3, 2005 Author Report Posted June 3, 2005 aah ok..sounds simple enough so any new parts gotta go in or can u keep the rest of the motor stock..mine will have a 3k head, possibly port and polish not sure yet though, money will be the issue
KE70_supercharged Posted June 3, 2005 Author Report Posted June 3, 2005 no worries then.. 2 inch through..3k head, reground cam = ???? kw extra

20V_KE35 Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 yo jamie me man, in ur site u said ' heavy duty single springs', ...can u tell me which model it taken from or what brand???? 7500rpm not bad
coln72 Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 Don't think you need heavy duty springs. I have had no trouble with stockers revving out to 7500+rpm.
Super Jamie Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 (edited) stock springs will hit 8 grand no worries, but do it enough (racing, or just because you like seeing the tacho hit 8500rpm, like me :)) then the springs will wear out. i suggest heavy duty springs unless you like changing valve springs every couple of years i don't know what my springs are from, or what brand they are, an engine builder put my head together and just found something that fit. but they were only $110 for the set (as opposed to $80 for stock springs) Edited June 6, 2005 by Super Jamie
KE70_supercharged Posted June 6, 2005 Author Report Posted June 6, 2005 do holden 202 springs fit straight on ? so reground cam u need... 2icn exhuast, extractors, new lifters, heavy duty springs? ' is that all ?
20V_KE35 Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 so praticaly i would be able to rev to 8krpm just simply re-ground my cam and install it to my stock 3k head...correct me if I'm wrong.
Super Jamie Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 plus extractors and exhaust system. head porting would greatly help in the quest for 8000rpm
