Ke55 Water/fuel Temp Drops To 0 When Doing 100kph

ive noticed when I'm doing 100kph + water and fuel temp drop to 0

 

also when the heater is cranking

 

my tafe teacher reckons it mite be a bad earth behind the dash?

 

 

 

any ideas?

Most likely a gauge problem, KE dashes are renowned for showing false readings on fuel and water temp, especially the fuel gauge (although that's usually the sender actually)

oi yeah same deal with me but only happens when I turn my headlights on

I found I've had similar problems. Firstly behind your speedo there is a little metal sender with 3 legs coming off it. They aren't connecting with the copper lines at the back of the speedo.

 

The other problem I had was with wiring. My demister fuse blew and it knocked out my fuel/temp, reverse lights and demister. (I think there was more) Could be a crossed wire?
