parrot Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) GA61XX (an absolute legend if you ask me) over on Toymods has done a guide with lots of pics on how to convert a Nippondenso 2T or 2TG, 3T-c & 18R-c to an electronic dizzy very easily using donor parts from an RA60, RA65, RT133, or '85 RT142,( Not the '86 ) dizzy. Essentially you take the coil /ignitor plus the dizzy internals and install them into your recipient engines dizzy body. See his photo here I wonder if they will fit inside a K dizzy body..... I only have one K dizzy here in my K engine which I am not inclined to strip at the moment, but if you are keen, I picked up all the parts on the weekend for only $55 at my picky wrecker (and that included a complete dizzy as I was in a hurry). Full thread is here Edited August 4, 2009 by parrot Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Crane cams have gone bust apparently and are in liquidation I had a look about that, seem they are just under new ownership........ :hmm: S&S Cycle of Viola, Wisconsin acquired certain assets of Crane Cams, Inc. on May 7, 2009. Those assets include the inventory, intellectual property, and trademarks for all Crane automotive and motorcycle electronic and valve train products. The intellectual property portion includes designs, drawings, and cam profiles. Crane Cams was founded in 1953, and like S&S Cycle, founded in 1958, it has become a respected and iconic brand in the high performance industry. S&S intends to continue to sell Crane products through the same distributors and dealers who have sold them in the past. To that end, they will establish a new facility in Daytona Beach, Florida to manage the business and provide customer service and technical support. This new facility will be staffed by many of the same personnel that Crane customers have worked with in the past, providing as seamless a transition as possible. While there may be some shortages of product in the near future, the Crane/S&S team will be working hard to fill back orders and meet future demand for Crane ignitions and valve train components. It will take some time to bring Crane products back on line, so please be patient, and check back to this website frequently for up to date information. Hopefully this is correct and the parts they supply will still be available for some time yet........ Quote
Stixy Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) how much did it set you back ben? explain the basics? Evan Well to purchase the system itself I payed $170 I think? Not too sure it was a while ago now but as I said before you can pick up cheap NEW ones off eBay for a bit cheaper. As or the basics...... well I pulled the instructions out of the box had a quick glance over and said “meh i think the mechanic can do this one”. $50 latter it was done and tuned. camerondownunder88 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Just use one of these bad boys: Was EXTREMELY hard to get rare as. BUT it is an original MSD TRD system for a K motor :D there are 3 different types of ignition for a K motor TRD made. 1 was early CDI MSD system. then this later one. Then one that was for electric dizzy and used individual coil packs. This one uses points dizzy but packs way more punch and multiple sparks (manual is in jap but I can make out about 6 sparks at 8000RPM per cyclinder). And it stops arcing in the points so they hardly wear only the lobe on it so adjust grease and off again. Cheers Cameron Quote

67Rolla-Ken Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Bosch GT40 coil works with most... that's the extent of my knowledge  Quote
KE55PIG Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 i have one of those atmo i now need to know about a ignitor Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Any ignitor will really do. They're just an earthing relay. Should have 3 wires - 1, coil negative 2, ground and 3, trigger from elec dizzy. Second wire from the dizzy just goes to the coil +. Quote
