Sooo... that end has to fit inside the end of the crankshaft where the spigot bearing is. The end diameter piece you pick will have to be the same as the gearbox input shaft.

Then you put the clutch plate on the flywheel, put on the pressure plate and do the bolts up evenly so they just nip the clutch plate. You should be able to just slide the clutch plate around with a screwdriver.

Then put your flash alignment tool though the clutch plate into the end of the crankshaft and make sure it is central in the the pressure plate. Do up the bolts evenly and you should be right!

lolk, ill do my best, i think i just expected a magical tool, easier if i just had a tip of a spline lying around :P

thanks for that!

Edit:

Also how well aligned does it all have to be, i don't know how well ill be able to see it from under the car in the gearbox tunnel

Dude ring up Autopro and ask for a clutch aligning tool specific to your car. I rang around lots of places and none of them are old school enough to have one except for Autopro. It makes the job so easy, you just stick it in, then tighten all your bolts for the clutch plate voila :P

It will be about $8.00

I feel like I have joined this journey most of the way through, if you just want some help to finish it let me know and I'll come around. This should not have taken this long to do :(

ooook thanks to the great help of LukeAE71 the gearbox is in and all that jazz, now adjusting the clutch cable, i've been told there should be a way to adjust the clutch cable, which end does this occur at.

One end is where the cable connects to the pedal, the other is where it connects to the clutch fork....., which end do i have to fiddle with, is it anything to do with the c clip just before the cable enters the firewall??....seems to be the only part which can be adjusted, but i dunno rlly....thanks guys

yea mate. at the firewall.

also helps to put a small hose clamp in front of the C clip. the C clips aparantly have a rep for coming off. the hose clamp will help stop it coming off. or atleas be there so you don't loose all control over the clutch if the C clip does come off.

It adjusts at the top on the fire wall. You pull it out of the firewall as far as it goes and put the circlip on the last groove that shows.

then check that the clutch works, and where it picks up-

then move the circlip to a different groove as needed. Ideally you won't have the thrust bearing sitting on the pressure plate all the time, so the gearbox arm should have a few mm of free play. Otherwise it spins the thrust bearing all day until it wears out.

My new KE clutch is quite soft, has a long release travel, but is very easy to drive with and control in tight situations like reverse parking uphill.

lol okay ive fiddled and fiddled with the clutch cable and concluded that that isnt a problem......the lever on the gearbox gets pulled the whole way etc etc, but still no action from the clutch. frustrating lol
