Axentrik Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 i will be happy with 100rwkw. which i don't see as unrealistic with a nice tune, extractors and raised comp (from thinner headgasket) if i was putting in some bigger cams i would go toda so i can still retain the VVTI, and not too large something like 264 or 272 with 9mm lift, would get a mild port and polish and a valve job too. with these mods i would be expecting about 110-115rwkw. which is plenty. a corolla is never going to be fast in a straight line but the way i see it is straight line speed is for people who can't drive. That sort of power level (110rwkw) would still be quite driveable and enjoyable. Revs is where it's at with these things and there is nothing like the sound of open trumpets at 8000 + rpm on a winding road, I should know :) Good luck with it mate, I'll leave this for other people to make comments now :) Quote
Sam_Q Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Luke what people feel is quick is pretty relative. Most people think my car hauls arse, I think it's reasonable. Axentrik might be happy with the power of something atmo. I agree with your comments about it being a nice package though. Now Axentrik you may need to go to a 280 degree exhaust cam to get 110kw, but that depends on the dyno. Go to the right (wrong?) dyno with a stock 20v thats been tuned and you will see well over that. The right grind of 272 cams will work just fine with VVT and works well. For a gasket the 0.8mm trd is cheap, easy and proven. With your compression raised to 11:1 with it its more than enough unless your running serious cams. As a bonus your engine remains a non interference type, trust me this I know without a doubt. If you need some tips on your conversion or conversion parts then let us know. Quote
Axentrik Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) ahhh sam q you are just the man whose input i needed in my build thread. you know practically everything worth knowing about 20v 4ages. couple of things id like to know about the Silver Tops. 1.what is the stock head gasket width of an AE101 4AGE? 2.what is the stock cam duration and lift? and secondly with the following specs, do you think 100rwkw is a realistic power figure on a not so number happy dyno? 0.8mm TRD head gasket TRD Copy extractors mild port and polish ecu and a good tune. LukeAE71 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Luke what people feel is quick is pretty relative. Very true, after all I have had a Sprinter with 180 rwkw and I would consider that quick. Driveable no, quick yes :) And I agree I have had people come in my car and be amazed by it, which is good for the ego. I think the 20V is a good upgrade for these cars no matter what :) Quote
Jesseb369 Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Sweet paint job. Turned out well. Nice selection of engine and upgrades too. Hey luke, Have any videos of your ae71 yet? :) :) Quote
Axentrik Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) Yes you're right.. its a VH Pacer Replica. Full RT Interior very lumpy 265 Hemi 4 Barrel Carb Aunger (jelly beans) with red wall tyres. And if you have 12k its all yours. Edited August 11, 2009 by Axentrik Quote
Axentrik Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) so i scored a set of these 4 Keihin carbs for the sweet sweet price of $0.00, THANKS DAD!!! unfortunately they are not FCR but CV-K's off an 85 GPZ900 thinking about ghetto rigging them up to my 4ac for a bit of a learning process/free powaaz. any thoughts? Axentrik Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) ok just realised this wont be possible on a non cross flow engine as its too close to exhaust. might have to chuck em on my 1.6 escort until i get a 4age and some proper r1 carbs. Jesseb369 Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 i love that Valliant :jamie: don't have 12k though. Quote

Ok 1: stock head gasket width is reported to be 1.2mm compressed although some say 1.15, I havent measured it myself. 2: 250 degrees at 0 lift and 7.97mm for intake and exhaust on the silvertop and 8.2mm on the intake of the block 3: depends on the dyno, between 75 to 125kw from the same engine on different dynos. But an average of 100rwkw average yes. DO a decent amount of porting and most inportant do a lot of match porting! oh and sorry for the delay in reply EDIT: running carbs your on your own to me they are a demon sent device and I as well as not knowing much about them consider them a horrid thing. Axentrik Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) thank you for that information sam and yes certainly plan to get the head ported and polished. will not be running carbs on the 20v thats kind of a step back from quad throttle bodies. they are just gonna go on my crappy escort 1.6 litre until i step it up a notch with some 99 R1 Mikuni Flatslides on a 16v 4age.
