KEhendo Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 (edited) car is for sale! $1100 ono well where do i start. i was down at the wreckers on saturday looking for a pair of wheels for a friend and i found this beauty. it was just sitting off to the side of the lot and still had the keys in it. just out of sheer idiocy i turned the keys just to see what would happen, it started! i went up to the office to ask if it was possible to buy the car as a whole. the girl behind the counter wasn't much help and said i'd have to wait till the boss came back. while waiting for the boss i see this big forklift going towards the car, i freaked and tell the guys to stop. i run to the office and tell the girl to get her boss on the phone. i told him i'd buy the car right now. we agreed on a price so i ran back to the guys with the fork lift and tole them to put the car down but the damage was done. :) went back today to pick it up and took it for a small drive and all seems ok. the only thing that seemed wrong is that it was running really rich and you could only use less than 1/2 throttle otherwise it flooded. i'm think it's just crud on the carb needles. i'm going to see if i can get them out tomorrow and hopefully make things right. i have no idea of where to start, does anyone know how to get the jets out of a 2m carb? anyway enough of my rambling time for the pics. the interior including column shift and sheep skin covers. not bad for 40 years of wear and tear. the awesome headliner. the 2.6 4M power house! the damage done by the forklift as they where about to scrap it. not happy about this one. the only rust in the whole car. this is the other ding. should just pop out. and finally the pair of original hubcaps it came with. it also has 1 chrysler hubcap and 2 ford hubcaps too. it was just too good an opportunity to pass up. i don't have a final plan as yet. i'm just concentrating on getting it rwc and running good. what do you guys think? can anyone offer any ideas as to the style i can build it in? also, i'm looking for name suggestions. silverra23 Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Nice pick up. I have been keeping an eye out for one of these as I love the idea of an old school cruiser. I am sounding like a broken record but you will find heaps of info on the Crown thread on toymods If you want some ideas for her have a look at www.crown-classics.com - its mooneyes Crown website. Have a look at the Crown Picnic photos, there are some very cool cars in there. I have also seen one done in rat rod style.. red wheels under the hubcaps.. white walls.. pinstriping.. loved it. Quote
KEhendo Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 well i got it home today and it loved the drive. it was a bit slow at the start and kept struggling but after the first km or two it was running great. i found the exhaust has blown under the drivers seat at the first muffler. as a consequence it sounds like a ww1 fighter plane when you really give it some stick and shift down a gear. i think i'm more in love than when i first saw it. i'm currently looking for names so if anyone has a suggestion, i'd love to hear it. Great to see you saved her! Since you already love the way she drives maybe just go a restoration on it? There's not many good ms55's left anymore! Matt. Quote
seabiscuit Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I love these cars. They're so stylish :) what do you guys think? can anyone offer any ideas as to the style i can build it in? As for ideas, there's a few things you can do. There's the rat rod style which is a little impractical but cool if you're into it; Pimp it... not; keep it grandpa spec and leave the hubbies on and venetian/picnic rug the shit out of it. What I would do with it is give it a decent restoration, paint it black or white only and give it a set of tough oldschool muscle car rims like hustlers. To me, these cars always look the best when they are basic, but tough. Quote
Felix Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Even though the dickheads dented the panels it is still a very good score. Paint it, drive it, enjoy it. Mods, well my opinion is that they need to actually improve the driving experience/dynamics of the car, or they are wasted money. Quote

Paint it, drive it, enjoy it. thats a great quote felix, can i use it as my theme? thanks to everyone for your support, i knew i did the right thing by saving this beauty. :) Quote
bAKER Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Hard to get parts for? New Engine? You should call her Rhonda. Quote

KEhendo Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 Hard to get parts for? New Engine? shouldn't be hard to get parts engine/gearbox/diff/suspension wise but body panels and trim bits are a different issue. Sure, go for it. :) cheers. Quote
Doogs Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Hell ! I didn't realise you meant they were using the forklift that way ! Idiots :) Nice score nonetheless. I like your plans also. Quote

It's funny cos that's almost how I pictured it in my head. White or black and rolling on hustlers :) I rekon you should put a few more cylinders in it!! :) Quote
