slapper Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 I've done a search without much luck - so: I need to send some rims from SA to QLD ... anyone have any ideas on who are decentish freight companies to use? Maybe we should sticky the compiled set of responses and shove it on the For Sale - Parts list or something? cheers, Slapper Quote
nikctime21 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 http://www.transdirect.com.au/ I used these guys a couple months ago to send a gearbox from SA to VIC, 30kg big parcel and it was only 35 dollars door to door. Very reasonable price considering the cost of other places, and you don't need an account. Quote
seabiscuit Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 I got AusPost to send my (tyreless) 14x7 rims from Port Macquarie to Canberra for $14.85 each! I must admit that's a very reasonable price from Transdirect! philbey Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Yeh, people talk shit about Aus post all the time, but I've sent loads of awkward stuff with them over the years with NO problems. I once sent front strut, hubs, discs and calipers with them for some measly amount. And they are CHEAP. Quote
white_sandshoe Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 www.e-go.com is decent, especially if you're willing to drop off and pick up from the depot... Quote
towe001 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Maybe we should sticky the compiled set of responses and shove it on the For Sale - Parts list or something? cheers, Slapper Top idea :y: It'll help out the members that have little to no experience with freighting stuff Couriers Please - http://www.couriersplease.com.au/ Fastway - http://www.fastway.com.au/ Startrack Express - http://www.startrackexpress.com.au/ NQX - http://www.nqx.com.au/ Queensland based but does have interstate branches Toll Ipec - http://www.tollipec.com.au/ TNT - http://www.tnt.com/express/en_au/site/home.html Toll - http://www.toll.com.au/TollOnline/otherservices.html Toll Priority - https://priority.toll.com.au/ Followmont - http://www.followmont.com.au/ Queensland based Their the ones we deal with at work or at least the major players in transport and frieght Their are others we also deal with but their local based, like Garden City Couriers. And for us Followmont Transport is indirectly serviced - thats is we go though Garden City and they deliver to Followmont for us. But, yeah, it good to ring around and get quotes etc. Some, like, Fastway and Couriers Please have a maximum weight limit. Try the locals as well cause they might also have direct dealings with the major players which could drop the cost a little as well. Ask if they do a door to door service - some do some don't. And then there's some that'll drop off the goods off at another transport company for a "follow on". If they do a door to door find out how it'd done - not really all that good if your wanting to transport a motor or a diff if its going to be someone turning up in a little van... Some have a "I'm not really worried about doing it", whereas others...... Its the little things that are good to know. Like if your planning on freighting that windscreen then insurance or maybe, say, a fuel tank - some will want their arses covered and class it as a dangerous item and that'll mean the cost will sky rocket and if a spot check finds something undeclared.... Gaswagon Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 e-go is the best, 4x Ma61 rims only from Ballarat to Sydney cost $22.00 depot to depot Quote
parrot Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I deal a bit with assorted courier companies through work, and they are pretty ordinary some of the time. People slag off Australia Post, but I have never had a problem, including 4 rims from Qld to Melbourne. Quote
irokin Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 The best experiences I've had have been with Fastway, mainly because the guy does the delivery round in our area before I leave for work. You can't go past Australia Post/Startrack Express/Australian Air Express either, all do fantastic work (any coincidence they're all owned in part by AusPost?). By FAR the WORST courier company I've ever dealt with have been couriers please. Utterly hopeless. They've lost my packages on more than a few occasions and when it comes to looking for them lets just say well....to be honest they couldn't give a f@$k. Quote
7shades Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 +1 Fastway. Complete 4K Cairns to Adelaide $80 Pair of E21 BMW chrome bumpers SYD - CNS (very long, very heavy) $30 Rims no tyres $12 each to most capitals... And yes this kind of thread should DEFINATELY be a sticky in the FS section. Quote
