Roo Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 ok i don't have much faith in the single system brake master cylinder in my ke20, so what dual circuits master cylinder pretty much bolt up to it? I'm trying to keep the car orignal so wont be added a booster, just using stock 20 brakes too did some searching and found that a gallant mc is a good replacement but couldnt find which model or part numbers so any more info would be great cheers andrew Quote
rob83ke70 Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 what you need to do is have a look in a brake parts catalog (make friends with your local brake and clutch shop) and find something the same size bore, twin circuit, with the same size mounting flange.... shouldn't be that hard..... but knowing cars like I know cars, it probably will be! Redwarf Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I have a brand new Mazda 323 11/16 twin master that I got to fit my 25, but it got in the way of the Webers. :) The spacing is stud spacing is right (60mm from memory) and the sleeve hole should be right as well. I ahppy to give it to you for the price it owes me (trade minus "rally" discount....). I'll see if i can find what I paid for it...... Others are early meteor, and the one that I currently have, early Gallant (available in various bore sizes, but not cheap....) Toymods has a good write up on this somewhere as well. Cheers Quote
LINDSAY Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 (edited) Yeah i have the laser/323 one in mine , fits a treat , come to think of it i think the laser/323 ones are 13/16 bore , well my one is anyways Edited July 20, 2009 by LINDSAY Quote
styler Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 hey i have part numbers and specs for the 3 most suitable masters, as redwarf and lindsay said the early mazda laser and galant masters are the best match for twin circuit and the nissan vanette for single circuit. also galant comes in approx 4 types, ie different bore sizes and boosted / non boosted. will post up in the next few days hopefully as last i remember the pbr online catalogue is very useful but doesnt work properly, you have to do some trickery to get the part listings off it so i saved them last time i looked. theres a few aspects ie mounting flange, bore size, stroke, dimensions - length / reservior size being important with twin carbs and the outlet position although you can use banjo fittings to change the plane the outlet comes out at. Roo Posted July 20, 2009 Author Report Posted July 20, 2009 ok part numbers would be a great help, i had a spare master cylinder with car its a twin system one but it is leaking though the pushrod would it be better off getting that rebuilt or buying a new one? cheers Quote
styler Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 (edited) ok sussed it, go here... pbr catalogues now choose make and model and model code and wait for it to refresh, for mozilla firefox left click in the bottom half in the window mentioned above and then hold down centre mouse button and move mouse downwards to scroll down. for internet explorer left click in the bottom half of the window mentioned above and then hold down left click while dragging mouse downwards to scroll down. strange but true... peace out :) Edited July 20, 2009 by styler Quote
YKE 20T Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 when I purchased my brake upgrade from hoppers stoppers i got them to supply a master cylinder to suit. they gave me a universal one that fits straight up. i'm led to believe its a 1inch master cylinder. its dual circuit and has individual reservoirs for each circuit. i don't know the part number but you could ring them and find out. its a bit longer than a standard cylinder and slightly taller due to the reseviours but it fits nicely and squeezes in next to my ca18. anyway just thought i'd let you know that they are out there and you should be able to find one to suit your needs Quote
Roo Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 well i ended up going down to my local parts store and going though the books ended up with a datsun mc, it was for a booster so i added my stock pushrod to it and it was all good here is some pics bolts in all good can get the parts numbers if anyone is keen Quote
